Question about 2000 Dodge Durango

When fueling pump clicks off repediatly

My 2000 dodge durango takes 20 min to fill up because the pump keeps shutting off. If i pause between pumping it will fill for a few seconds longer. in the last year that we have had the car it has only filled up right 3 times. We have only had the car a year by the way. It dosent matter what way you hold the nozzel or how far in it is. Every gas station same thing. A couple times in the last month when filling up it seemed like it was going fast until i noticed gas was pouring out. Sometimes if at the right station we can barely hold the trigger and it will fill without shutting off but its almost faster to just let it keep clicking off. I would also like to know about how much this would run at a shop and if i have no experiance with fixing cars other than fuel pums and such would this be something i could do myself. Sorry so long and Thanks in advance.

What can kill the fire to fuel pump

The fuel pump is controlled by the ECM which receives a signal from the fuel pressure sensor . When the pressure is reached the sensor signals the ECM and the power to the pump is reduced / stopped until the pressure falls . Have a fuel pressure test done on the manifold to check fuel pump--pressure regulator and filter. Run fault codes to check for correct venting around the canister.

Were is the fuel pump on a 2000 durango

this would be an electric fuel pump that is part of the fuel pump module which is located inside of the fuel tank. The fuel tank will need to be dropped in order to service the fuel pump.

Hard to start after sit for 15 to 20 min. have changed fuel pump & all sencers that can think of acts like its loosing the fuel to me but not sure?

you need to check the fuel pressure, running it should be around 50psi. and after shutting down try to start, fuel pressure should jump to 50 psi within 1-2 seconds. if it has to build up you have fuel bleeding down somewhere. I have run into dirty injectors that are dribling after shut down causing a semi-flooding condition also there is a check valve in the fuel pump which is supposed to hold fuel in the system for the next start.

My dodge durango 2000 just stopped working at the stop light. I just put $40 in gas in it. Before it stopped it sputtered. It will still turn over but won't start. The dashboard light reads "no bus".

If you just put gas in it is possibly a fuel pump. It is common for pumps that are ready to go out will fail after a fill up - when the cool fuel hits the pump. It will still crank and all the electrical components will work - just no start.

Durango shuts off when im driving and than won't restart

This could be a number of things. First thing is do you have a check engine light on? If you do, I would have the codes read. That will tell you exactly what is wrong. And it is free-cheap to have them read.
If anything electrical or sensor wise is bad, the check engine light should be on.
Otherwise it would be a vacuum problem or a clogged fuel filter, possibly a failing fuel pump will also cause this problem.

Fuel pump

don't guess the fuel pump is $300.00, when it quits check the fuel pressure or listen for the whine of the pump in the tank, it is my opinion u most likely have a loss of spark problem, have autozone or kragen auto run a trouble code test, if nothing shows u may have a fuel problem. The test is free.

2000 Dodge Durango dies speradically

If you run you car constantly on low gas you heat up your fuel pump, gas actually act as a coolant for that pump, what you have done actually sounds like is over worked that pump. It's just not able to keep up the fuel pressure that is needed to fun the car and when you turn it off you let the fuel pump cool and then it will work This is only a suggestion but change the fuel pump and keep a little more gas in it. Hope this helps
