To check maf sensor, when car has started to loose power, take plug off the maff sensor and drive the car if the problem goes then it must be maff sensor. Two things about this test, the car wont perform as good as it would if the maff sensor was working but should see a big difference, second thing this is ony a test so dont think you can start driving the car like this alll the time as will couse engine damidge.
Hope this was some help wish you well.

My vauxhall vectra 2005 won't go into gear when stuck in heavy traffic

Hello Vince Libby,

Several decades now we have not enjoyed seeing Vauxhalls here in the USA ... (wow... nothing (could not even rule-out and AUTOMATIC TRANNY)...

If so = FLUID Level... (also means poor maintenance).
((always keep automatic fluid clean... EVERYTHING lasts longer)).

Else (manual tranny)

But I can give you my EXPERIENCED opinion on your
COMBINATION of SYMPTOMS...

Well... I thought I could

Suffice to say I was going after your clutch slave
... If you've been experiencing any oil loss or spots...
You are most likely not fully engaging your clutch...

Sadly eBay (UK) was the only site that gave me a CLUE
what your "CLUTCH SLAVE" even looks like...

If you are losing any oil (or don't know (check there first).

Hope this helps

When my vectra been stood overnight lots and lots of white smoke come from the exhaust upon start up.any ideas

You're burning oil and it takes the catalytic converter a bit to start doing that for you. Something's come unsealed!
It's common enough; try to sort valve clearances and EGR/turbo obstructions by looking at the computer log, then if not sorted pick a date to pop the head and seals off and place seals anew. Nice car.

Vectra 2.5 v6 MSD a lot off smoke out exhaust even when warm

Hi Kieth, It would help to know more about your vehicles problem. Is the smoke very dark or is it a bluish grey? Have you noticed heavier fuel consumption or are you using more engine oil than usual? Is the smoke continuous or does it come only during acceleration? Let us know as many details about the fault and the vehicle as possible and in that way we will be able to offer more help. Regards John

My vauxall vectra when I accelerate smoke comes out the exost and there is no lift

what cc is the engine. what color is the smoke.... gray is water and normal. white over water in the exhaust usually means you been parking on a hill with the back of the the car facing the top of the hill. it water logs the cat in the exhaust. takes a long time to get the water out so you need a long run to do this. black smoke head problems could be the egr or the head gasket....
