Question about 2005 Buick LaCrosse CXL

1 Answer

Hello Mr. Weid, my 2005 Buick lacrosse dash is saying charging system failure and that its in battery power saving mode. When we try to crank it, it makes a ticking sound. It's not turning over. I thought maybe it was the battery so I gave it a jump, it did nothing. Please give me your best solution so that I can get the problem solved.

Have a load test done on the battery as it appears that there is a dead cell of an internal bridge between cells broken

SOURCE: 1996 ParkAvenue Buick want crank turn the key

GM cars are notorious for faulty anti theft security systems. When these fail, the car thinks its being stolen and shuts down the starter. Most noticeable symptoms are the car not starting, everything else still working, and a light illuminated on the dash that says "security". If you see this light when it doesn't start, then this is 100% your problem. Go to this link for info and ways to fix it yourself for cheaper.

The battery is not fully charged or you do indeed have a charging system problem. You need to have the charging system tested to insure proper operation

My 2006 Buick LaCrosse is saying charging system failureso I replaced a new alternator and new battery.the message came up on the dash again charging system failure...what does this mean what do I do?

This could be a bad connection. First step is to clean your battery connections, then work your way through the wiring. Common places are the starter connections, and body ground connections.

2007 buick lacrosse security system we have check everything batt good check all refuses if security system is armed will it not crank

By jumpering the starter relay you proved two things:
  1. There is sufficent charge in the battery.
  2. Starter circuit in key switch will not engergize the starter/solenoid or the ignition.
  3. Most obvious conclusion: defective key switch. Replace.

I have a 2005 buick lacrosse that would not start when i was ready to go home from work today. I had someone give me a jump and it fired right up. on the way home the DIS showed the battery was at 14.3...

It will show a charging sytem failure with the key on and the engine not running due to it can not charge with the egine not running. If it was showing 14.3 volts while the car was running it is safe to say your charging system is ok and you have a bad battery that needs replaced.

Charging system failure

Hello. This means for some reason your alternator is not functioning properly. The engine will start and run until your battery goes dead. If you have a voltmeter display on your dashboard the needle will be below 12 to confirm that the alternator is not functioning properly. You need to have this checked out before your battery goes dead so you don't end up stranded on the road. I hope this helps, good luck.
