Jack up the vehicle and place a jack stand under an appropriate place Remove the wheel nuts and the calipers will be in plain view.. If you are not familiar with how to get to the brakes I suggest that you get a qualified mechanic to help as it will save you lots of dollars.

If there's no pressure on your brake pedal it's due to a failure somewhere in the braking system. I can't see any connection between a steering problem and a braking problem.

Most cars have a split-circuit braking system. That is, the front left wheel is on the same line as the rear right wheel. The front right wheel is on the same line as the rear left wheel.

This is just a safety feature: If one brake line loses pressure, the other line still works and you retain 50% of your braking power.

check the level of your brake fluid. If the level has dropped it indicates a leak somewhere. Though be aware that it is possible NOT to lose brake fluid whilst having soft brakes..

Brake pressure is lost due to either a faulty brake master cylinder or a leak at one of the wheels.

Remove each tyre in turn and inspect the piston on the brake calliper. If there's slight wetness caused by brake fluid that indicates a seal (around the brake piston) has failed and is drawing in air.

There's no need to replace a calliper - overhaul kits are available.

I have a 83 Bronco 351w I am doing the brakes and the passenger side rotor needs to be replaced can someone walk me through this thanks


Personally I would replace both rotors to prevent a future brake imbalance.

* chock rear wheels, raise front of vehicle and place on stands.

* remove wheels, remove brake calliper and bracket assemblies.

* remove bearing hubs from axles, via removal of bearing adjustment nut

*remove hub seals, clean and inspect bearings, repack with HT bearing grease.

* the brake rotor bolts to the rear of the hub, you will have to remove and replace rotor to hubs, make sure all bolts are thread locked with loctite 263 and tensioned to spec.

* pack hub with grease, install seals, fitt hub assembly and adjust wheel bearing preload, install new split pins.

* fitt brake calliper and brackets, fit new brake pads,

* fitt wheels lower vehicle, test brake for function

How to replace rear brake pads and rotors?


Hi Danny jack up the car and use axel stands or blocks for safety remove wheels and open the calliper s. if the park brake cable is attached to the back of the calliper you will need a brake wind back tool. If not the pistons on the calliper should push back to make room for the new pads. Next remove the calliper brackets and then the rotors and reassemble in reverse order. Before you let the car back down pump the brake until its hard then turn the wheel by hand to see that it is free. After a road test jack it up again and make sure the wheels are still free. Front brakes are sticking but not every time


Front calliper cylinder worn/dirty.Quick fix:remove wheel,dismount calliper,use cleaning spray,brush,pump the brake just a little not to pop the cylinder out,sink it down with two screws crosed,pump it again out just enough not to pop it out,clean the best u can.Last:replace.

What tool removes the calipers to change the brake pads?


You will need a 17MM Socket Or a 15MM socket depending on wheel size
Behind the calliper locate the two bolts, Not the bolts on the case around calliper , But on the calliper it'self then remove bolts and remove calliper replace pads, Put the bolts back tighten, And then brake pad change is complete.

Rear brake disc needs replacing


with car on stands use punch to remove pad retaining pins pull out pads can be tight remove 2 calliper retaining bolts move calliper away from disc remove disc retaining bolts remove disc check hand brake shoes and clean look for adjuster between shoes if it has one back it of some models just have hand brake cabel adjustment clean and fit new disc secure adjust hand brake shoes using screw driver through wheel bolt hole clean refit calliper slowley push back calliper pistons fit new pads refit retaining pins do other side pump up brake pedal check and adjust handbrake if neededcheck brake fluid level

Atention!!!
Don't disconnect any brake line from caliper!
Don't disconnect any ABS sensor!
For change front brake pads you must raise vehicle, remove wheels, extract the retaining spring of the caliper, and remove the caliper as follow: 1. Do not disconnect the brake hose from the caliper, and do not allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose! 2. Remove top and bottom caps (on back side of the caliper) for access to guide pins, then unbolt and remove them from the brake carrier. Remove the caliper. 3. Now you must thoroughly clean the brake calipers (free of grease). 4. Remove outer brake pad from brake carrier. 5. Pull inner brake pad out of brake caliper piston. 6. Remove brake carrier from wheel bearing housing (two ribbed bolts). 125 Nm 7. Remove brake disc from wheel hub. 8. Install brake carrier on wheel bearing housing. Tightening torque for two ribbed bolts = 125 Nm. 9. Check up the brake fluid level on the reservor, and emptying if neccessary! 10. Push piston back into brake caliper housing. 11. Install inner brake pad (with expanding spring) in brake caliper piston. (Arrow marked on pad - if exist, must point in direction of brake disc rotation when vehicle is moving forward). 12. Install outer brake pad into brake carrier. 13. Bolt brake caliper housing to brake carrier using two guide pins. Tightening torque is 25 Nm. 14. Install both caps. 15. Insert retaining spring into brake caliper housing. Important: Depress the brake pedal firmly several times while the car is stationary so that the brake pads adjust to their normal operating positions!!! How to change back brakes? I can't get the brake cylinder to go in.


Do you mean back brake pads or the back brake callipers?
To change pads you need to use a rear brake pads changing tool to screw in the calliper piston or if you are experienced enough you could screw in the calliper with a two mm thick piece of metal sheeting that fits into the grove of the piston.
If you need to replace the whole calliper remove the hand brake cable first and clamp the flexible brake hose remove brake hose, remove the callier with cylinder and then remove the calliper holder. fit new holder pads and locks and the calliper with the piston and the brake hose and the hand brake cable. Bleed the brakes. Mike

My favourite car (I have one) and I hope a pleasure to assist.

The Tiburon has brake pads all round and not brake shoes at the back with pads at the front like many other cars.

From your description I would suggest that the rear brake pads and/or callipers are responsible.

I would recommend replacing the rear pads as they may have become very worn over time causing them to rattle against the wheel disc.
The brake callipers are pretty simple to remove once the wheel is off. You will need to jack the car up and remove the lid from the brake fluid reservoir which can be found under the hood.
The calliper is secured by two bolts on each side, they can be released and then pull away the calliper from the wheel assembly making sure to support it whilst working on the pads so as not to stretch the brake pipe.
You will also need to push back the calliper piston using a calliper tool or block of wood. This is to make way for the new thicker brake pads.
The new pads can be replaced ensuring that you use copper grease where the brake pad arms rest inside the calliper but ****do not get copper grease ****onto the surface of the new brake pads or wheel disc.
You can then reassemble the calliper over the new pads and re-bolt tightly into place. You should use a torque wrench to the specified setting however a good solid hand tightening should be fine.
Then replace the wheel and be sure to replace the brake fluid reservoir cap.

Pads themselves are pretty cheap. You can also of course get a mechanic to do the work for you if you are unsure of the proceedure as your safety is after all paramount.

I myself would avoid main dealer charges for this type of work as they can be very expensive.
You may also find a tyre dealer in your area may offer you a free brake inspection and be able to complete the work at reasonable cost.
