Question about 2002 Ford Explorer

Power windows, radio and interior lights stopped working

One day my radio went out - later that day my power windows and mirrors stopped working - now the enterior lights are out as well. Changed a fuse under the hood and now the mirrors work, that's all. If i press load or eject cd - the lights on my stereo come on but just the lights, they die out after 3 or 4 minutes.

My son's on a road trip. He said the mirror started smoking and caught fire. The radio and windows stopped working. All other items working. Where to look first? Suggestions?

Theory: The light/electronics in the mirror shorted, causing the wires to smoke and catch fire. The fuse for the light blew, so the radio and windows on that fuse don't work.
Suggestion, remove the wires going to the mirror and replace the fuse.

Why do the fuses on my scion xb keep blowing?

Did you check to make sure the fuses are the right rating to begin with. Fuses are rated by amperage and disconnect the circuit or "blow" if there if the circuit is shorted out (+ touches - or vice versa) or a device or circuit draws more amperage than the fuse is rated. Did you buy the vehicle new? If not then there may have been modifications. Does is have the stock radio? Does it have an amp or subwoofer? Driving lights? There is also a fuse block with relays and fusable links under the hood. Refer to the owners manual and verifiy all the components in both fuse blocks are of the correct type and rating. Physically remove and inspect every related fuse and make sure no one has "jumped" a fuse by wrapping it in foil or ataching a solid wire across the connection. If all that works out ok, have the voltage reguator checked as it is regulates a constact rate of power to the car. If is is allowing momentary surges, it is possible that it could exceed the cirucit ratings especiallly on the 10 and 15 amp circuits that most of your accessorys and lighting use; Good Luck.

The sideview mirror lights and windows have

I am pretty sure it is the body control module. My 02 sable is currently having a similar issue. On a random day my girlfriend took the car to the store, the car started honking when she went to re-enter the vehicle. never done that before. Later that night the left front turn signal will not shut off. the turn signal light on the dash stays on solid, this morning the bright light indicator was on solid and the turn signals worked perfectly fine until the blinker light eventually went back to on all the time. I disconnect the battery at night or if I am not going to drive it for a few hours. But I am 99% certain it is the BCM causing this.

Corolla '04 Radio, Mirrors not working

More then likely this sounds like a fuse(s) problem. If you know to use a test light, you should check all fuses under the dash and the hood. Most fuses are maked either on the holder or the cover. Ask for any other assistance.

Radio CD not working & lights don't flash remote keylock

Sometime the computer in car will shut down a circuit when it sees a problem even if it only occure once. You can try to disconnect the battery for at least 2 min so all sys power off (some have capacitors that mantaine a charge for short time). If a battery disconnect does not clear problem you have go to dealer and have them to clear codes and reset you modules and your preferences
