Question about 1999 GMC Jimmy
I have a 1998 GMC Jimmy
When I drive it there is a sometimes loud clunking sound coming from
the passengers side at the rear.
I have a manual 2wd/4wd/low floor gear shift.
Could it be my the 4wd?
I had a Wagoneer manual 4wd that sometimes froze in the winter-making loud clunking sounds, from the same area of the jeep.
Could it be the same thing with the manual Jimmy 4wd?
Universal joints clunk,is it in the rear end then maybe it is the rear end.you kinda need to be more specific if this information doesn't help

I have a 2000 jimmy and my right rear shock at the top of the connector has rusted out and the bolts are lose so every time i hit a bump i hear the clunking noise. easy way to check for this is to go over a speed bump at a angel where one tire goes over at a time and see if it does it when that tire goes over . i have not had this fixed and its been this way for a hard 60,000k so far
