Question about 1995 Toyota 4Runner

1 Answer

I replaced the fuel pump and fuel line coming from the pump to the filter. after bleeding the lines on the fuel rail it still wont start. I have checked the ignition and spark plugs to make sure it is getting fire. the # 1 plug wire is weak, but still has fire. (orange spark) thought it was flooded but after letting it sit 2 days, still nothing. I since tried holding it to the floor to start and still nothing. while cranking the motor over, you can smell the gas coming out of the exhaust but it just wont start.

Refresh my memory, What have you done to the car beside replacing fuel filter? Do you have a fully charged battery? Are you getting spark to all cylinders? Are you getting fuel? I can help you if you tell me what is wrong. Don't assume it's the fuel pump cause there is so much in between but we can see if your Fuel Pump is working. Open your gas tank and have someone turn the car on but without starting it. You should hear a hum for about 2 to 3 seconds.
This means your pump is working. Now you need to find out what is your fuel pressure? A good number is between 65Lbs. and 40 lbs.
Let me know how you make out I'll be on line all day today.

My Pontiac Sunbird 96 ran out of fuel. I need to know how to bleed the system of air. Where is the bleeding line??

you shouldn't need to bleed the air out-if you filled back up with fuel and its not starting you probably have a bad fuel pump-sorry- to bleed the fuel line look where the fuel line connects to the fuel injector rail-on the rail there should be a thing that looks like a tire inflator valve-turn the key on and push in the center of the valve and fuel should come out of it -if not then for sure pump isn't working- cheers Denny

When I drive along it's all fine, but when I put my foot down the car starts to skip like its short of fuel.

Do not do anything if it is a common rail diesel without more instruction. Common rail can be very dangerous & the following instructions are not for common rail. Probably is short of fuel. When was the fuel filter last replaced & the sediment trap drained. A lot of diesels also have a lint filter (fine mesh) located in the pump where the fuel line goes out of the filter into the pump. You just remove & blow out with compressed air. Do you know how to prime & bleed the system. Did the problem start just after haveing a fuel filter fitted?

Car ran out of gas. now wont start. replaced fuel pump and filter. fuel is coming through the rail. car will crank if fuel is poured in throttle body until all fuel is burned up.

Dear,

You have to pump the fuel pump and bleed some fuel from the injectors so to bleed the air as well.

due to air blockage in the line its not letting to crank the engine.

please look for it

thanx

Try breaking fuel line into pump and bleeding fuel into bucket, if your happy that there is no airlock, reconnect and try again. have you checked your fuel filter?

About a gallon of water was mistakenly put in my tank when extremely low. It ran for about a mile and died. I have since put gas treatment and about 3 gallons of 93 octane gas but need to bleed the water...

remove fuel line from fuel rail end and put switch to on position let some fuel come out from line, then replace fuel filter, check oil if any water marks in oil if not fix fuel rail line back you are readu to use it normal.
