Question about 1993 GMC Jimmy

1 Answer

Ok so on my 93 gmc jimmy i have did everything everyone has said. i changed the ignition control module and checked the all the spark from the spark plugs. when im driving it and i go to push on the gas it acts like it wants to die but if i let off the gas it will stay running. if i am barely on the gas it just feels like im losing power. cant figure out what it could be the only other thing i can think of is its the spider in it.

SOURCE: hi my name is fred

Did you check for spark at a plug wire or at the coil wire? Check at the coil wire,if there is spark there, the ign rotor is bad, very common to have the hot spark "drill" a hole thru the rotor to the dist shaft. Also check for play at the rotor shaft. Distruibtor bushings tend to go bad, making the trigger wheel hit the pickup coil, killing the spark.

The problem is either your fuel pump relay is overheating our your fuel pump is over heating. They also have the problem with the wire connector on top of the fuel pump melts. This is a known problem with them, when you but a new fuel pump they give you a new connector and a service bullentin regarding this problem.

SOURCE: My 98 gmc 1500 V8 5.0l won't start. Has good spark

Spray starting fluid into the air intake of the engine, if it starts and you have fuel pressure you have no injection or injector pulse as we call it. Check ECM fuse one and two for continuity if it starts with fluid..

93 Jimmy with 4.3 vortec, Won't start, no spark. Changed cap, rotor, coil and ignition module. What would be the problem.

Have you checked your fuel pressure? Can you hear your fuel pump buzzing. Remove your gas cap and have a helper turn the key to the run position while you have your ear close to the open tank. If you don't hear anything you have a fuel related issue. Even if you hear the pump buzzing you need to check the fuel pressure as it may not be making enough pressure. If no buzz you may have a bad fuel pump, pump relay, or wiring problem to the pump. That is where I would start.

Are you getting fuel and check for spark and if all is well, then move to your fuel pump and if checks out okay , ignition module and pick up module and coil have checked out .
