Must be the fuel pump...check the fuel pressure application and rating for your car to confirm. Change fuel filter also as maintenance. Hope this helps.

change your fuel filter and get in the habit of pouring an entire bottle of fuel injector cleaner once a month as you fill the tank , pour in the bottle before putting gas for best mixing... also pour a bottle of %70 isoprophil alcohol in the gas tank to rid of all the water at the bottom if your gas tank since condensation occurs nightly...
All this , because you said "it SLOWLY died"

My Ford Explorer ran out of gas and when I put gas in it it won't start. What are my options?

If it's carbureted then take off the air cleaner and pour a half shot glass or so of gas down it and then have them try to start it. No long cranking just a few seconds or so then try again. If you have fuel injection then sorry no quick fix.

Hope this helps Mike

2010 dodge avenger 2.4L motor seemed like I ran out of gas and stalled wouldn't start so I poured gas til it was full then everytime I try to start it it smells like gas n has a hard time starting

Camshaft position sensor. It needs to know which cylinder is needing fuel, so it can fire the injectors at the correct time. It must have failed you. It should not be too difficult to replace or very expensive.

1994 Isuzu Pickup 2.3L carbureted motor with mechanical fuel pump lost prime

If it were just that you would be ok once the engine started.
You might have a float problem with the carb. or something in the tank.
Are you sure the pump is not pumping ?

YOUR BEST BET IS TO GO AHEAD AND REPLACE YOUR FUEL INJECTORS. BY POURING GAS IN TO YOUR INTAKE. YOU KNOW ITS GOT TO DO WITH YOUR FUEL SYSTEM. I TAKE IT YOUR CHECKING FURL PRESURE ON THE CHECK VALVE ON THE FUEL RAIL FOR THE INJECTORS. REPLCE THOSE AND YOU SHOULD BE GOOD. JAKE.B

1989 Cadillac Eldorado dies right after I start it

you could see if you have a friend that could help you bye starting the car for you and you need to un hook the top of air box as if you were going to change the breather take a small coke bottle and pour about 1 cup of gas in your bottle hold your breather hose up and pour about 1/2 shot glass gas down the hose and see if that alows it to continue to run if it does you may have a bad or weak fuel pump but I will warn you to be careful when dealing with gasoline do not go to overboard use your best judgement
