Question about Chevrolet S 10

1 Answer

Losing all power

My s-10 pickup lost all electrical power while driving and the engine quit running. I checked all fuses and battery connections and that was o.k.. I had it towed to the repair shop, and the next day it started right back up and they could find no problem with it. Any suggestions on what may have caused this to happen, as I am worried that it will do this again.

No hazard lights and no turn signals but every thing else works, HELP? I had a push button start installed the wire is connected into the blue fuse on the side wall just behind the battery, related?

the signals work off of the hazard flasher. the hazards are wired to constant power.if you run a fused wire from the hazard switch to the battery it all should work.
somehow the hazard power source got lost.check that there is not a blown fuse in the fuse box. a starter solenoid draws a good amount of current.they may have blown a small amp fuse looking for a power source.
patching into a fuse box for power is not high caliber work.

When driving my Why would my s10 just quit

sounds like a loose power connection or bad wiring in the engine compartment. Check battery cables and ground connections at both ends of wires and cables first. If the problem remains, test equipment and a wiring diagram would come in handy.

Losing power and dying.

Yes it could be the coil or a number of other electrical components.
You would need to figure out if you have lost spark to the plugs or fuel pressure when the engine quits. It could be a relay, the fuel pump, the coil or igniter, or a long list of other things.

Hit a pot hole and engine quit. Battery and connections seem ok.

So you checked battery and battery connection, good. Did you check to see if the wires to the starter are o.k.? Also you might want to check the main fuses under the hood, when you take the cover off, flip it over. Find the ones that are labeled ecm, engine, etc. The shock of the impack could have loosen a fuse or even popped it. good luck!

When you say it has lost power, the engine is running but is bogging down or is it electrical because you replaced the battery and alternator, no headlights or gauges are not working.
Let me know.

New fuel pump wont work either

Look under hood some ware around left fender well there should be a red wire with a plug on it that looks like it should be pluged to something but its not, that wire goes directly to fuel pump, run a hot lead to that and see if pump runs. Also chk. grounds and hot leads and all fuses and the relay. If you can't find the wire, and your sure fuses and relay and connections are functioning, you may have to run your own hot wire to pump to see if it will run. Be aware its possible to have gotten a defective pump.
