Make the ECM the last thing to replace as there are other items to consider first. Run fault codes to check for sensors that may be stopping the electrical system from working. Check immobiliser is function correctly

SOURCE: 2003 Audi A4 Cabriolet ...cooling fans come on at start up

Yes this car should have a temperature sending unit that tells the fans to kick on. If it has two fans one of them is for you Air-condiontion, and it will turn on whenever the ac is being ran. One other possibility is if you bought the audi used the owner before you may have hard wired the fan to run whenever the car ignition is turned on. The only reason someone would do that is if they were to lazy to fix it properly.

SOURCE: Ford Focus LX 2.0L 2003: radiator fan not working

This can be caused by a few things. First, the fan motor may be burned out or the temperature switch may be malfunctioning so the fan doesn't engage. The thermostat may also have gone out which prohibits the coolant to circulate through the engine and radiator thus cooling your engine.

sounds like the fan isn't running right or there is blockage at the radiator you should also just take a look and raise coolant level if needed

Dded anti freeze, seemed ok for a day, started over heating again when moving but pull over at idle temp drops

Welcome to Fixya

Sounds like you have a problem with the cooling system. First thing you need to check first if the auxillary fans are working from the time you are the engine is overheating. If the auxillary fans is not working then the problem would be the aux fan itself or relays. if Fan is working then you might have a poblem with the water pump.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Within five minutes, it starts to redline overheat, if you drive 2000rpm, it goes down, but goes back up when you idle

it could be a stuck thermostat, or a plugged radiator or cooling system, check to be sure cooling fans come on when they should or it will overheat. when moving it is air cooled through radiator. thats why it over heats at a stand still. check fans first, it could be a fuse relay or the coolant tempurature if fans do not work or coolant sensor not turning on coolant fans at the proper tempurature.

How to replace the radiator

I own a 2003 impala had the same problem if your car is over heating first check to make sure the sensor that controls the cooling fans is working if not you should have the sensor replace first. i also had my radiator replace as well but the sensor was the main reason for my car overheating.the sensor controls the fans which cools the radiator which will cause the temp gauge to be in normal range and your car will no longer over heat unless the thermostat needs to be replace.

2003 Audi TT Quatro Coupe. The radiator cooling fan does not work. Vehicle over heats because the fan does not work. Replaced the radiator cooling fan motor and the temperature sensor. The problems is...

The main reason for the over heating of the audi tt is to do with the water pump. The propeller within the first type of water pumps is made of plastic. This was to prevent corrosion, however was never designed to last longer than 5 years. What you need to do is purchase the new style water pump. These new style water pumps have been designed with a metallic propellor which should resolve the overheating. Let us know how you get on.
