SOURCE: 2001 olds aurora drive cycle.

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
It is suggested you take it for a few runs. 25kms. atleast. After that, you can remove the positive battery connector and let it sit for atleast 5mins. before reconnecting.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

2002 Hyundai Elantra that says my on board computer is not ready to be tested. Emission results are: readiness- fail, monitor comprehensive- not ready, monitor EVAP not ready, monitor O2 not ready.

Did you recently clear the trouble codes or disconnect the battery? Once all codes are cleared, the computer will not display systems 'ready' until they go through an evaluation cycle. Some of the systems require a certain number of drive cycles before they will display 'ready'. A drive cycle is usually starting the engine from a cold start (based on coolant temperature) and driving until certain conditions are met. I don't know what the requirements are for your car, but my 2003 pickup truck requires more than 10 drive cycles before it will make the O2 sensors and evaporative emissions 'ready'. Most states only require that a certain number of systems are showing 'ready' to pass emissions certification.

Your vehicle is equipped with an OBD II computer AND a link to connect OBD II computer to a Smog Check Analyzer or Data Scan Tool (available
at most auto part stores). There are two types of codes, bad codes and good codes. The good codes are the "Readiness Flags". These Readiness Flags
indicate that certain emissions systems which the OBD II computer has been monitoring have PASSED the test, indicating that those systems are
working properly. Then there are the bad codes. The bad codes are actual "Trouble Code". These codes indicate that the OBD II computer
has detected a problem with in the emissions system. The Trouble Code will specifically indicate the component and problem which was found.
Newer vehicle's have very complex codes in the thousands.
"Readiness Flags" do not cause the "Check Engine" light to illuminate, but may cause a vehicle to fail the smog test.
In order to set all the proper "Readiness Flags" the OBDII system must complete at least one drive cycle (in some cases
two or three). A drive cycle is a sequence of internal tests which the OBDII computer runs while your vehicle is being driven. This insures
all emissions systems are functioning properly. Only then will your vehicle pass the smog inspection. A drive cycle usually requires one
week of driving.

What is the drive cycle for a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder?

What is not ready?

One of the 8 Emission Monitors?

Drive cycles have to be looked up in factory manuals
& done by a repair shop, NOT the vehicle owner

Seldom do you need to do a drive cycle

If a drive cycle is done for a reason, there is no driving a vehicle
hundreds of miles, as you hear about

I would guess you have an Emissions Failure

Exhaust Converter
Oxygen Sensors
Cylinder Misfires
Egr Issue
Evap System

What ever codes you have, will tell you the system to component test

Need scan tool to look at data, thus a repair shop

Evap system problem, 2008 silverado extended cable 5.3 Flexfuel check engine light is off, but, the scanner is showing evaporative system , no code, only yellow light, it won't pass the emissions. I a

Did the garage check the gas cap during the emission test? 90% of the time an evap leak turns out to be a bad gas cap. Or if someone had gas cap off while engine was running (pumping gas). Or if gas cap was not tightened all the way while driving. If this is the case, code saying evap leak, will clear after drive cycle self tests are done. Usually after 50 miles or more.(if the leak is solved)

Failed inspection because monitor evap not ready and monitor secondary air not ready. do i have to drive a certain way in or to reset

You DO NOT go to inspection without either
working on all vehicles or at least use a professional
scanner to see if all 8 monitors have run

If they haven't run or you have a fault code after they run,
you fail inspection

So you get the Evap Codes, diagnose that system & it's components, until you find where a vacuum leak is or what
solenoid failed.

That is best done at a shop with a smoke machine & knowledge

Emission Monitors run on their own every few days

What your referring to is Drive Cycles after certain repairs
have been made

You don't do them either,a shop does before you get the car
back or they are useless & you don't go their, too technical
for you to do & the info has to be looked up

You need a clear piece of roadway with no traffic to to Drive
Cycles

My 2001 cherokee xj won't pass emissions test has po455 code and the mod $D1 tests are low 11,13,31,33,51,52,53,61,62 the other are ok. what is the problem and how do you fix it?

Code 455 is for a large leak in the evap system.
The computer vents the gas tank to the vapor canister by opening and closing valves.
Have you checked the evap system for leaks ?

Emissions test comes up not ready - can't pass inspection

Under the hood, there is a fuse block. I believe it is on the driver's side of your vehicle. Open that box, and pull the "ECU" fuse. Leave the fuse out for at least 5 minutes. Put the fuse back in, start the car, and let it idle for at least another 5 minutes. Do not drive the car, touch the gas, or even look at the gas pedal for these 5 minutes, as the ECU is remapping itself. This will properly reset the ecu and clear the codes. After this you may drive the car.

01 sonata gls v6...code po455, po442. what are these and how can I pass emissions test in arizona

If you have an EVAP leak, you will get the following codes:

1. P0442 evap emission control system leak (small).
2. P0455 evap emission control system leak (large).

If these codes come up, you need to trace the leak. The most common place for the systems to leak besides the gas cap is at the service port under the hood, the hoses at the purge solenoid, and the hoses around the fuel tank. Check all your EVAP hoses from under the hood , all the way back to the gas tank. You can repair a split hose easily. Buy some 14.5mm EVAP hose at the auto parts store. Just cut the split or cracked section out and attach the new hose.

I can only say that u must fix the code issue and light to pass state emission test, if u reset the light they will know, the system will tell the tester that the system is not ready, this will cause a fail.

Wont complete scan to pass emission test

When you rest your codes there is a series of tests your ECU has to go through before you can pass emissions. this is done some people can reset the code and go before its sets the code again. on the 96 you can have 2 tests not complete for it to pass. basicly you have to drive the car a couple days for the tests to pass.

check the readiness tests wait until only 2 have not passed. then you should be good.so drive and check.
