Remove the steering wheel . you might need a puller to pull it loose after you loosen the nut .. after you get it off look down in there and there is a small bolt that holds the switch in the column use a small light and you will see how it is held in there. some have a clip to pull too.. then out comes the switch .. thanks and holler if you need more. jerry

Need to replace my ingition switch on my 1983 s-15 pickup, v6 2.8 L. I can't find where it's located on my truck. To replace it.

he ignition switch is mounted on top of the steering column about halfway between your feet and your knees when sitting in the vehicle. You will need to remove the panel beneath the steering column, and lower the column to gain access. Two components share the same mounting screw more or less. The bright light switch which has three wires will need to be removed first, then the ignition switch with many wires of bigger size.

Wiring problem; when i switch to full lights the engine shuts down

Not having a wiring diagram, I can say this sounds very much like a grounding problem to me. Try running ground wires to the headlight buckets, bulbs an Ignition module.

Also check the charging and bat situation as most solid state igs require a minimum of 9 vt.

Don't miss the key switch output.

Missing

Check your ignition system, plugs, wires, rap and rotor, i bet one of those is the culprit.
