Question about Oldsmobile Bravada

When I apply the brakes, my turn signal indicator begins clicking, as soon as I remove my foot from the brake pedal, the indicator stops clicking, this goes on for several months and then eventually my dome light fuse blows, when I replace the fuse, the problem goes away for a couple of months. Well, it is clicking again and now my led for my odometer no longer lights up but, the turn signal relay certainly clicks when I hit the brakes? Confused

    How do I do check the multiswitch turn signal without taking it to a mechanic, because if I have to take it to a mechanic, I might as well let them fix the problem, mechanics have attempted to find the problem before and all they keep doing is replacing the fuse and relay and charging me for not only the parts, labor and (claimed diagnostics)?

You got a short in a fusable link and its going to need to be taken to the dealer or to a auto eletric. There is not quick fix for this.

    okay then you do not got a reliable source the dealer will not do this to you tho take it to the dealer before someone else messes wiht something else and you could fry your computer onboard.

Get the multiswitch turnsignal lever checked. Before doing that you need to get the fuse and relay in the fuse box check. That should fix the issue.

Stop Lamps
The brake pedal position sensor is used to sense the action of the driver application of the brake pedal. The body control module (BCM) provides a 5-volt reference voltage and low reference to the brake pedal position sensor. The position sensor provides an analog voltage signal back to the BCM that will increase as the brake pedal is applied. When the brake is applied, the BCM will then apply battery voltage to the left and right stop/turn signal lamp supply voltage circuits and the center high mounted stop lamp (CHMSL) supply voltage circuit illuminating the stop lamps. At the same time the BCM applies battery voltage through the signal circuit to the transmission control module (TCM) and the engine control module (ECM) indicating that the brakes are applied.
Ground for the stop lamps is supplied as follows:
• G402 provides ground for the left rear stop/tail/turn signal lamps
• G403 provides ground for the right rear stop/tail/turn signal lamps
• G301 provides ground for the CHMSL
The stop lamps on this vehicle will not illuminate unless the ignition is in the accessory, run, or crank positions. When the ignition is in the OFF position the stop lamps will not illuminate when the brake pedal is applied.
Battery voltage from the LT TRN/SIG and RT TRN/SIG fuses located in the rear fuse block is also used by the body control module (BCM) for stop lamp operation.

Turn Signal Lamps
Battery voltage supplied to the body control module (BCM) from the fuses listed below is used for turn signal and hazard lamp operation.
• LT TRN/SIG fuse for the left turn signals
• CTSY/RF TRN fuse for the right front turn signal
• RR TRN/SIG fuse for the right rear turn signal
When the turn signal switch is place in either the LEFT or RIGHT position, ground from G300 is applied through the turn signal switch signal circuit to the BCM indicating the turn signal request. In response to this signal, the BCM applies a pulsating voltage to the front and rear turn signal lamps supply voltage circuits cycling the lamps ON and OFF. At the same time the BCM sends a GMLAN serial data message to the instrument panel cluster (IPC) to cycle the appropriate turn signal indicator ON and OFF.
Ground for the turn signal lamps is supplied as follows:
• G104 provides ground for the left and right front turn signal lamps
• G402 provides ground for the left rear stop/tail/turn signal lamps
• G403 provides ground for the right rear stop/tail/turn signal lamps

2010 Cadillac dts the cruse control don't work sometimes and the brake lights don't turn off and the switch key will not come out ,other times it works normal


The crusie control not working would be caused by brake lights being on same as for the key not coming out . You need to test the brake pedal position sensor . The brake pedal position sensor is under the dash hooked to the brake pedal arm . You need a wiring diagram to tell which wires are what . The pedal position sensor isn't like brake light switch from years past , it's an input for the BCM - body control module .There is three wires at the switch , 5 volt ref. , ground and signal . All go to theBCM . You could have a sensor problem , problem with the BCM . There could be DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the BCM .

When the variable signal reaches a voltage threshold indicating the brakes have been applied, the BCM will apply battery positive voltage to the stop lamps, transmission control module (TCM), engine control module (ECM), and stop lamp relay coil side. When the stop lamp relay receives battery voltage from the BCM, the relay coil is energized and the stop lamp relay switch contacts close applying battery voltage through the STOP LP fuse to illuminate the center high mounted stop lamp (CHMSL).
I'd say you have more then a bad fuse ,just reading how the brake lights function .You should have it hooked up to a professional grade scan tool ,one that can check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes in the BCM - body control module !
  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the Brake Pedal Position Sensor parameter in the data list for the body control module (BCM).
  4. Apply and release the brake pedal.
Does the scan tool display a change in the voltage?

The body control module (BCM) applies a ground through the brake sensor reference low circuit to the brake pedal position (BPP) sensor. The BCM supplies a 5-volt reference through the brake sensor reference voltage circuit to the brake position sensor. When the brake pedal is being applied, the BPP sensor then sends a variable voltage signal through the brake sensor signal circuit to the BCM.
Circuit/System Verification
  1. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Brake Lamp Cmd. parameter as you apply and unapply the brake pedal. The parameter should change between OFF and ON as the brake pedal is applied and released.

    If the parameter does not change as the brake pedal is applied and released, refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor (BPPS) Malfunction.

  3. With a scan tool, command the LR Stop/Turn Signal Lamp ON and OFF. The LR turn signal should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.

    If the LR stop lamp does not illuminate when commanded, refer to Stop Lamps Malfunction.

Can you help me determine what is going on with my car?


Your headlamp problem sounds like a lose connection , need to check the fit of the terminal pins at the headlight connector ! or you have a wire broke inside the insulation or a bad ground wire ! Are both high an low beams inoperable ?
You other light problems are not that easy to say it's this or that ,not when a control module is involved . When the BCM is involved in controlling these thing's the first thing to do would be hook up a professional grade scan tool an check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes , in the bcm no the engine computer ! An then check inputs to the BCM from brake switch , headlamp , turn signal etc... An outputs from the BCM to the components that are not working ! Here is a description of how it works !
Turn Signal Lamps
The body control module (BCM) is responsible for controlling the turn signals and hazard lamps. When the turn signal switch is placed in either the left turn or right turn position, the BCM receives a signal from the turn signal switch. The BCM then sends an on-off voltage signal to either the left or right turn signals and their instrument panel cluster (IPC) indicator. When the hazard switch is pressed, the BCM receives a signal from the hazard switch. The BCM then will send an on-off voltage signal to all the turn signal lamps. All the turn signal lamps will flash including both IPC turn signal indicators.
Stop Lamps
The brake pedal position sensor is used to sense the action of the driver application of the brake pedal. The brake pedal position sensor provides an analog voltage signal that will increase as the brake pedal is applied. The body control module (BCM) provides a low reference signal and a 5-volt reference voltage to the brake pedal position sensor. When the variable signal reaches a voltage threshold indicating the brakes have been applied, the BCM will apply battery positive voltage to the stop lamps, transmission control module (TCM), engine control module (ECM), and stop lamp relay coil side. When the stop lamp relay receives battery voltage from the BCM, the relay coil is energized and the stop lamp relay switch contacts close applying battery voltage through the STOP LP fuse to illuminate the center high mounted stop lamp (CHMSL).
Did you ever spill a drink down the right side of your console or have a windshield leak ! The BCM is located on the right side of the shift console ?

The brake pedal position sensor is a resistive device used to sense the action of the driver's application of the brake pedal. The brake pedal position sensor provides an analog signal that will increase as the brake pedal is pressed.
The brake pedal position sensor receives both a 5-volt reference voltage and a low reference signal from the electronic brake control module (EBCM). When the brake pedal is pressed, a variable signal is applied from the brake pedal position sensor to the EBCM through the brake sensor signal circuit. The fuse block left rear supplies battery positive voltage to the bass relay switch through the BASS fuse. One side of the bass relay coil is permanently grounded at G402. The EBCM supplies voltage to the bass relay coil upon receiving the signal from the brake pedal position sensor. The switch contacts of the bas relay close and battery positive voltage is applied through the bas relay switch to the center high mounted stop lamp (CHMSL), and to the turn signal/hazard flasher module through the stop lamp switch signal circuit. The ground for the CHMSL is applied from G402. The turn signal/hazard flasher module then supplies voltage to the left and right stop lamps in the tail lamp assemblies that have ground at G401 and G402. For export vehicles the stop lamps receive battery positive voltage directly from the bass relay.

there are several other codes that pertane to the brake lights . you could try Replaceing the bas relay !

How to adjust parking brake on 1993 chevy lumina ?




  • Adjustments




  1. Apply service brake pedal three times with a force of approximately 175 lbs.


  2. Fully apply and release parking brake three times. Full application may require two pedal strokes.


  3. Raise and support vehicle, then mark relationship between wheel and axle flange.


  4. Check parking brake pedal assembly for full release as follows:






    1. Turn ignition switch to On position.


    2. If ``Brake\'\' lamp is illuminated, operate manual brake release and pull downward on front parking brake cable to remove slack from pedal assembly.





  1. Remove rear wheel and tire assemblies, then install two lug nuts to retain each rotor assembly.


  2. If two parking brake levers on both calipers are not against lever stops on caliper housings, check for binding in rear cables and/or loosen cables at adjuster until both left and right levers are against their stops.


  3. Tighten parking brake cable at adjuster until either the left or right lever begins to move off the stop, then loosen adjustment until lever moves back barely touching stop.


  4. Operate parking brake several times to check adjustments. A firm pedal feel should be obtained by pumping pedal two full strokes and rear wheels should not rotate forward when parking brake is fully applied.


  5. Install wheel and tire assemblies, aligning marks made in step 3.

Adjust the brake pedal switch located on the upper side of the brake pedal under the dash. To adjust the stop light switch, disconnect the two wires attached to the rear of the switch, move the switch by loosening the lock nut towards the brake pedal. As soon as the center pin of the switch begins to touch the brake pedal notch, rotate the switch half turn more and lock it by tightening the lock nut. Connect the wires back and ask your companion to see the tail lamps while you depress and release the brake pedal. Or you can see the tail lamp behavior by parking the car on reverse at a distance of one foot from any wall.

You may have a defective brake switch. The switch is located behind the brake foot pedal. When you apply pressure to the brake foot pedal, the switch should compress.

Turn Signal Lamps
The LT T/SIG and RT T/SIG fuses located in the underhood fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to the body control module (BCM) for turn signal and hazard lamp operation. When the turn signal switch is place in either the LEFT or RIGHT position, ground from G202 is applied through the turn signal switch signal circuit to the BCM indicating the turn signal request. In response to this signal, the BCM applies a pulsating voltage to the front and rear turn signal lamps supply voltage circuits cycling the lamps ON and OFF. The BCM also sends a message via GMLAN to the instrument panel cluster (IPC) to cycle the turn signal indicator ON and OFF depending on the position of the turn signal switch.
Ground for the turn signal lamps is supplied as follows:
• G101 provides ground for the left front turn signal lamp
• G100 provides ground for the right front turn signal lamp
• G302 provides ground for the left and right rear turn signal lamps

Did you check the fuse's. ? Wouldn't think it's a ground because right an left tail lamp Assembly's use same ground ! Did you check for B+ voltage at the bulb. with a volt meter ? Power is supplied by the BCM . Could be the tail lamp assembly
