Question about 2004 Chevrolet Malibu

Open Question

I have a 204 chevy malibu classic 2.2 l engine on friday it started and drove great.(It has been using more fuel lately). After parking in in the driveway I let it sit until monday. I went to start it no start. It cranks but no fire. I have fuel pressure and it remains after I turn off key. You can smell fuel in the exhaust when you try to start the car. The coil pack , ignition control module, crank position switch, and new plugs have been replaced. We also attempted to reset pass lock with turning to on position for 10 minutes then off and try to start. The spark plugs get wet from gas so we have gas getting to the spark plugs.Help please

I had a similar problem with my car. My friend who happened to have experience changed the spark plugs for me and things turned out fine. Can't exactly see the root of your problem with the posts though so it may or may not work.

SOURCE: 1996 S-10 cranks but no fire

did you check to see if fuel pump is pumping. fuel filter isnt clogged is it? but you're sure there is no spark. because if there is spark it could be air flow problems.
and you changed the ignition switch so that's not it, how about the starter. is there any noise coming from the starter when you turn key? if it isn't lined up right.
there has to be spark if you did what you said take off a wire at night and try it . electricity to start goes, ign switch battery starter(is there a relay on s10s cant remember), the alternator is here also.to coil/distributor to wires to plugs to gasoline

also it could be the wires coming from the battery , check them for corrosion. if they are really corroded could be problem. and make sure your ground is good contact. ive seen corrosion inside wires causing no spark.
just a few ideas to check.

sounds like youve really done your home work all that comes to mind now is try a cam posistion sensor this would keep your car from starting as well if that is good you can aslo try a crank sensor. you will get all of the readings that you are getting and these sensors can still be bad.

My truck did this after I replaced the fuel pump. Turned out to Fuel Pressure Regulator. It would crank and crank but never start. It's located underneath the black plastic manifold on the side of the injectors.

My 2004 Chevy Malibu Classic will start up great but at times it will suddenly stop accelerating

Hi,
If all the lights are working and you don't think it is the battery or electrical, then it would be with fuel. The fuel pump could be going out but first check the spark plugs and wires.

My 2004 chevy malibu classic 4 cyl wont start its

There are four things required for an engine to run: air, fuel, compression and properly timed spark. If you have fuel and timed spark, the only two variables are air and compression. Air is not the likely problem, and compression should be good unless you blew a head gasket or the rings in all four cylinders. How did you determine that you have fuel and spark? Those are the two most likely problem areas.

The shifter button on my 2000 chevy malibu will not push in so i am not able to get the car out of park. what can i do to fix this?

some models have an electric interlock that is activated when you step on the footbrake of the vehicle..this must be done before taking the car out of park..if this is not so equipted it may call for removal of the shifter cover in the console and looking at the interlock mechanism for broken or jammed parts or broken springs and pins try wiggling the shifter while pushing in on the button and it may free up..good luck and repost please..thnx

Trace the power source from fuse to relay etc and make sure pump is working. if all checks out then check pump working and for preasue at engine. you may have a dammaged fuel line from the tank which would also cause the same problem

Your fuel injectors don't like water and this can damage them, you need to get your injectors tested to see if they are supplying the correct volume of fuel and have a correct spray pattern, Damaged injectors would explain your symptoms.

1998 chevy malibu stopped running while i drove it. Wouldnt start back, dont think it is fuel pump what else could it be

Most common "won't start" problems are fuel and ignition. Check for spark to the plugs and check fuel pressure. Let me know what you find. There are too many other things to list until we know if it's a fuel or spark issue.
