Hi. this is an issue within the ELC(electroninc level control sytem), that is used to control the leveling of the air ride system. it uses a variety of sensors and a module that work together to maintain the correct level or this vehicle during transit.

One of the sensors that work with the ELC module has become unstable and will need to be repaired at this time. if the sensor is malfunctioning, it will produce inaccurate readings and this will cause erratic air flow to the air bags, in return, allowing the movement to be irregular.

I recommend taking this vehicle in for service. this irregularity within the ELC can shorten the air bags life cycle if its not serviced soon.

Pleas rate and have a great day:)

Does your Buick have electronic level control (ELC), which utilizes air adjustable shocks. ELC maintains the rear trim height under a wide range of loads. Refer to ELC, as applicable ? Have you changed shocks on the back ?

Rear shocks are stiff, and it rides very hard.

Rear shocks are the Air Shocks and they need compressed air in order to work properly, so you have to take closer look at your air management system.

Check your rear shocks. On the fender, push with your body going down. Upon releasing, your car should go up and down one time then settle. If it goes beyond or hesitate to move, you have a problem with your shocks. I think you also have a problem with the shock absorber bush. It does not matter if you have a new or old shock absorber. The lifespan of the shocks depends on the way you drive on bumpy roads.

When the key is off, the air suspension shouldn't lose any air, so you could have a valve leak in the system. I'm not familiar with all the components of the system, but did you check the valve that allows the system to bleed off pressure for leaks when the system is turned off?

Air suspension diagram for cadillac catera 1999. The leveling light is constantly on even when im parked. I;m trying to find a air suspension diagram to track the problem down.

this happened 2 me also because the rear air shocks were popped, they are very expensive 2 replace with factory parts, I found aftermarket air shocks for $80 but you need 2 fill them manually and disconnect the compressor . If you want 2 track the lines the compressor is behind the front bumper near the passenger side wheel well from there you can follow the lines 2 the shocks, meanwhile you should disconnect the air compressor it can burn out from running all the time. The factory shocks are close 2 $300 ea. with the aftermarket shocks there with be a valve stem 4 you 2 fill them with and are easy for a do it yourselfer

Rear air shocks 1998 lincoln continental deflate when parked

My Grandma marquis did the same thing, I thought that was normal, it slowly goes down when you shut it off and slowly goes up when you start it, It didn't hit the ground or anything, but then it finally did die altogether, years later, and then it hit the ground, so I got regular shocks back there and it rode fine, stayed level, it is now resting in the junkyard in a shallow unmarked grave. It was a nice car.

ONE REAR AIR SHOCK IS LEAKING IN MY 2002 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE

you could replace the one shock but do you know why it is leaking oil? Typically unless there was something traumatic to happen to one of the rear shocks, then if one is going you can almost be the other one will go soon. I ended up having too many problems with the air ride suspensions. If you haven't yet, look into conversion kits as something to consider for down the road if nothing else. www.strutmasters.com has a great kit that is made in America and comes with a lifetime warranty. They have a good reputation and track record and can help you save some money and find the permanent solution if anything else goes wrong.
