Go to the dealer and get vw fluid. No joke . It is expensive but it IS the only thing to use.

Power steering pump location

Best I can remember it is located on the lower backside of engine. One way to find it is to follow the hose coming out of the power steering fluid reservoir down to the pump.

What type of power steering fluid and the capicity does bmw 545i 2004

Most BMWs have a dip stick in the reservoir cap to measure the fluid level of the power steering fluid. We use Agip power steering fluid. There are generally just two types, standard Dextrn/ATF and Power steering fluid. Unless the cap or manual states otherwise, then just put power steering fluid in it.

Can I use stp automatic transmission fluid for power steering in my 2002 jetta

I suggest only using power steering fluid in the power steering system in VW Jetta's. I tried using trans. fluid before and it made the pump wine constantly especially when cold and I had to purge the system and refill it with power steering fluid to get it to stop.

My 2006 vw jetta needs transmission fluid. The manual says I have to take it into a vw dealership however, the closest one is two hours away. Can I add the fluid myself and how?

Power steering for my Bora/Jetta 4 V5 has suddenly gone and its hard.

Priority Action Part Type Cause
1 Inspect Power Steering Fluid Low Power Steering Fluid Level.
2 Inspect Power Steering Pump Worn out or Damaged Power Steering Pump.
3 Inspect Power Steering Hose Leaking or Incorrectly Installed Power Steering Hose.
4 Inspect Belt Tension Incorrect Belt Tension Will Allow Belts to Slip.
5 Inspect Belt Incorrectly Routed, Adjusted(Tensioned), Missing or Worn Drive Belt(s).
7 Inspect Ball Joint-upper Worn, Damaged, or Faulty Ball Joint.
8 Inspect Ball Joint-Lower Malfunctioning Ball Joint.

What happes when a vehicle experiences a loss of power steering, is that the car reverts to a
manual steering car (like in the Model T days), making steering difficult, especially at low speeds,
and during low speed maneuvering.

My jettas power steering seems to be not working all of a sudden, what would cause that, and where is it located to check the fluid?

You could have a number of problems.First thing you should always do is check you power steering fluid level. If it is low, then top it off with the recommended fluid type. For your vehicle it should be a mineral based fluid or universal power steering fluid which you can get at any parts stores. The reservoir is usually located on the drivers side and has a green cap that looks like it needs a screw driver to open it,and you actually do.If you still have a problem, then it could be the system itself, from the power steering pump,to the rack and pinion. It can also be bent suspension parts, but always go with the cheapest route first.I hope this helps you.

2006 Jetta TDI Tiptronic Maintenance

The tiptronic is not the DSG - two separate transmissions. You don't need to service the tiptronic every 40k like you do the DSG.
VW considers the fluid in a Tiptronic tranny as "lifetime" fluid - it doesn't need to be changed.

Power steering fluid

There isn't any. The new MKV Rabbits and Jettas use an electro-magnetic type power steering system. This does not use any fluid
