I had the problem with the engine light and the ESC light on. At the same time the car would not accelerate. I disconnected and reconnected the battery and works fine now.

P1004 IS SHORT RUNNER VALVE PERFORMANCE..ONE OF THE VALVES/ACTUATORS ON INTAKE MANIFOLD..THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN/SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR ENGINE CONTROLLER IF YOUR VEHICLE WAS BUILT BEFORE FEB 5/07..CONTACT YOUR LOCAL DEALER..AFTER SOFTWARE UPDATE IS DONE,SHORT RUNNER VALVE TEST MUST BE DONE..IT WILL NEED REPLACEMENT IF IT DOESN'T RESPOND PROPERLY..WILL HAVE TO BE DONE BY DEALER AS FAR AS I KNOW..I HOPE THIS HELPS

The U0100 code means there is Loss in communication with the ECM/PCM,which might be as a result of one of the following reasons listed below.
1. You had flash downloads applied to your vehicle. Many erroneous DTC codes are generated during flashing and should be cleared after flashing 2. You disconnected/reconnected computers in the car with the power still applied 3. An interruption (break or short) in the CAN network caused communication errors.
a simple software update will help you resolve the issue.
