Question about 1992 Toyota Land Cruiser
You will first be removing the hub plate with your 10mm socket.
Next you will take your 12mm socket and loosen all the nuts all the way to the end of the studs but do not remove the nuts all the way just yet.
You will take a brass drift and a 3lb hammer and hit every stud with the nut at the end to loosen up the nose cones on the hub.
*Note there is a snap ring at the end of the birfield. If this is the first time the hub is coming off you will need your snap ring pliers to remove the snap ring from the end of the birfield shaft.
The cone washers you're talking about are split along their length,(slotted). To remove them - I sharpened a 5/32 punch into a chisel. Then just tap the chisel edge into the slot and the washer will push out. It's hard to see the slot but it's there. Some will take more effort than a tap. It wouldn't hurt to spray the washers and studs down with Liquid wrench or WD first. Hope this helps.
but I would HIGHLY recomend that you leave the nuts on a few threds because when the cones come out they can shoot abaout 20 feet away.
