Question about Chrysler Sebring

1 Answer

I went and filled up my 1999 Chrysler Seabring Convertible. I got down the road about 3/4 of a mile. Had a friend tow it to the house. I have already put on the car, Wires, Plugs, Distributor, Rotor, Fuel Filter, Fuel Pump, Crankshaft Sensor, and the 4 Relays that are behind the Big Fuse Box under the hood. Not sure what else to do, some of the things that I installed on there needed it changed. My car was running fine until I put the gas in from the gas station. Can anyone Please give me some other things that I need to check to help get it started?

Are you sure you put gas in and not diesel.? If the fuel was contaminated you will have to drain and flush the fuel system. Do you have spark at the plugs? Do you have fuel to the rail at the injectors? Have you checked your timing belt??

Testimonial: "I have been working on cars for awhile now. I put gas in not diesel. I have fuel to the rail, I don't have spark to the plugs. This is the first time I have ever had this problem after filling up with gas. I guess I will have to take it and have the timing belt checked. I didn't know that it could jump time if you get water in the gas. Thanks John for the help so far. If you can come up with anything else I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. Darlene"

SOURCE: 1999 Chrysler Sebring Convertible code P1495. I

Code 1495 = Leak Detection Pump Solenoid Circuit

Remove the connector from the solenoid (should be on the back wall, just to the drivers side of the air-hat). You will have the solenoid to check and the harness. What you want to measure is the voltage coming from the harness and the resistance of the solenoid.

Turn the key to the "ON" position but do not start the motor; the voltage at the connector should be at least 10V or more,.now, check the resistance of the solenoid (should be around 35 ohms).

Hope helps.

The fuel pump relay is located under the dash on the drivers side. The fuel pump relay is green and it should be next to a brown relay for the ignition.

Happened to me several times in Florida, once in Canada. 1999 Chrysler Seabring Convertible Lxi 2.7. Computer locks out ignition for random periods. Took it to a Huge dealership in Florida, paid $350.00 for transmission shaft speed sensor stuff. Fixed it. Fine since. 1 yr. later body control module went (computer). Expensive to fix.$(800.00 just for dealer only part) Air door control, tachometer, and a rear window affected. I'll live with it as the 'failsafe' for loss of AC control is AC is 'Defrost/Floor'. Fan works fine.

I believe it's electric. It sounds like the motor is going bad. In theory, it would be harder for the motor to lift it, than it would to lower it.

My friend, from the sounds of it a scanner is not going to help you. It sounds like your valve assembly and possibly one or more of the bands are shot. Usually, when a tranny starts to slip in and out of gear on it's own or slips under a load that is not something that can be fixed without replacing parts. If it was a shift solenoid then it would just not shift into or out of certain gears. I am not even sure that a 93 would have an electric shift solenoid.

I feel your pain though, my tranny went out 8 months ago and I tried all sorts of things to "heal" it, from flushes to new cooler to additives but deep down, I knew it was shot and it was. Now, $3500 later, it runs fine :)

When are are trying to release air pockets to the heater core what and where are the valves. 1999 Chyrler Seabring JXI V6 2.5

You don't need to bleed the coolant systems in 1999. Fill the radiator and fill the overflow to a point mid way between the cold and full lines. Warm up the engine until the fans cycle on and off. Let engine cool down and check level in the overflow. Add as needed and keep a watch for a couple of weeks. Any air in the system will be pushed out of the radiator into the overflow bottle. When the engine cools down it pull coolant from the overflow back into the radiator.

Chrysler Seabring 1998 TOP hydraulics

You are probably low on fluid.
Behind the rear seat is your motor/pump/reservoir combination.
With the top DOWN, fill the reservoir to overflowing with ATF.
Cycle the system a few times and repeat.
Do this till the reservoir will take no more fluid.
Check the lines and cylinders for leaks. The fluid must be going somewhere.
If you replace any lines or cylinders, always do them in pairs.
