I have a 2002 Blazer and it is hard to start we replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, crank sensor unit , oil line ,oil pressure Gage, did Tune -up Rotor button ,rotor cap wires spark plugs

by not running the fault codes first , you have missed the real faulty sensor that is causing the problem
nothing of what you replaced is linked to hard starting, like , ambient temp sensor ( used to report the air temp for the setting of the rich mixture need for starting)
baro sensor ( used for reporting the air density used to set the mixture setting
Maf/ Vaf sensors ( again used for mixture settings)
heated oxygen sensors ( used to adjust the gas composition by reporting the results to the ECM

How do I fix my starting and shifting issues?

Could be a bad coolant temp sensor (very common) making the computer send the wrong fuel injector pulse.

I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT that doesn't want to crank at times. Used to be first thing in the morning. You turn the key and it will try to start but dies. When you try it again and push the gas it...

It could be the ETC sensor (electronic temp. control) which send a signal to the computer to tell the temp. and how to mix the fuel to the throttle body for start up and during the day. This switch looks like the engine temp. switch on the heads but they are not the same. The ETC is usually around the thermostat outlet not in the heads or intake. Just be sure you are changing the correct one. It is not hard to change, you may loose a little antifreeze when you remove it but it you are quick you can screw it right in and if you want you can drain the radiator down a little and then install it.

I have the same exact problem, once the 2002 Buick rendezvous gets hot it won't start till it cools down. Forget about any diagnostic codes, Buick dealer told me there is nothing he can find. The fan...

Hi usually the symptoms your having are a result of the oxygen sensor(or lambda sensor for its technical name) being at fault.

now the reason it points to this being at fault is that it only starts working when the engine is near normal temp then if the car wont start till its cooled down then this is because the sensor then stops working when its cooled down so your car will run again until it gets hot,

you need to check where the sensor is located in the exhaust if it comes before the catalytic converter then the chances are its the sensor at fault but if it comes after the cat then it could be the cat that is at fault.

my best guess would be the sensor as your car is playing up exactly as if this sensor was not working.

i hope this is some help to you

let me know if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

I have a 96 oldsmobile ahieva. I was told I need to change the cold start sensor. What is the cold start sensor and how can it be replaced.

There is no cold start sensor on any G.M.vehicles that I know of.They probably mean the coolant temp sensor for the PCM.It would be best if you posted what problem you are having with your vehicle and make sure and let me know what motor it has and I`ll let you know where it is.Is check engine light on?Does it run rough, hard start when cold or hot, anything you can add would be a great help.

I agree, replace the Coolant temp sensor, it will have 2 wires going to it, Not 1. Usually located just behind the breather near the thermostat outlet.

This sensor controlles your timing and fuel to air ratio.

For some reason the traction control is being told to be turned off, this could be for a number of reasons. Check the coil packs, they are know to go bad, but you should at least have the computer scanned for faults, it can save you a lot of money, and possibly direct you in the right way. The trac off is probably not causing your problem, the problem is probably causing the trac off, if ya follow me.

engine coolant temp sensor is most likely cracked.. I know it sounds strange but pull it if your looking at the engine it is on the right side of the head Will make the car hard to start, smoke, and the idle will often race up and down.. easy to fix 15 dollars or so..

My 2001 saturn Sl is turning over but will not start. what could be the reason for this?

Try pulling the engine coolant temp sensor, They often crack not sure why but the ceramic tip cracks makes the car hard to start, the car's idle may race while shifting gears, and often smokes. The sensor is on the right side of the engine when looking at it on the head. Easy to change and get too
