1997 chevy cavalier is overheating?

when your car is off and has been sitting a while open the radiator cap and see how much juice you have in there and note the colour, if your low fill that ****** up. could be your thermostat, maybe its stuck shut- take it out and boil that ****** on the stove in a pot if it opens(moves) when your pot is boiling then moves back after its cool, then thats fine- note you will have to put another gasket and some seal then more radiator fluid when you put it on. maybe its been years since your changed your radiator fluid- some people never change it at all.

Note the colour of your radiator fluid as if you have oil mixing in that ************** you have a bad head gasket or cracked head (major problem and BIG BUCKS) no stop leak in a can can fix that- check your oil colour if its chocolate milk sorry, same thing ^ cracked head, head gasket leak.

get a nieghbor over there and some beer and you all can probably figure it out. Good luck!!!

98 lexus gs 400 brakes real squishy but not always???

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly

It certainly is the master cyclinder that has failed. The piston seals are passing fluid by them and your feeling a mushy pedal or having to "pump" them to get the brakes to work.

A word to the wise once this symptom appears the day will come when you hit the brake and nothing will happen. (i.e an accident waiting to happen)

PLEASE do not ignore the need to get it fixed for you own personal safety.

On a purchase parts note: There is nothing wrong with getting a rebuilt master cylinder to replace the one in your car. (NAPA / Autozone)

Thanks for using FixYa! If you need further assistance just post here.

2007 Jetta keeps losing brake fluid. 2 dealerships have looked at it and no one has an answer. No evidence of leaking.

This vehicle is NOT safe to operate.
The Brake fluid is leaking on to the back side of your floor board carpet OR it is filling up the Brake booster.

Replace brake master cylinder.

1. To inspect pull up the carpet from behind the brake peddle you should see that paint is pealing off of the fire wall and you may even see this from under the hood under the master cylinder.
2. A little more difficult but it is possible that brake fluid is filling the brake vacuum booster and may require removal to see if it is. IF fluid is entering the booster it will need to be replaced.

Hope this tip helps.

Power steering leak making loud buzzing sound more loud when turning

The power steering leak is creating bubbles in your power steering pump which gets strained more when turning, which causes it to be louder when turning. If you know where your leak is, then fix that, then try to bleed your ps system by filling up with the cap off the resevoir and turning the steering wheel max left to max left with trans fluid. if the noise is still there then your ps pump needs to be replaced along with the ps vsv located on the side of the pump.

Power steering leak

if the smoke is related to the p/s leak it is a bad vaccum switch on the side of p/s pump. has 2 hoses going to it.the fluid goes into itake and burns out threw the engine exhaust system.

Have any repairs been made to the vehicle where the impact occurred?

My first suspicion would be that perhaps there is air in the brake lines, or maybe as a result of the impact there is a crack in one of the brake lines but I would expect that you would see brake fluid around somewhere and if it were leaking you would eventually come to a point the brakes would not work at all under any circumstance.

The first steps would be to:

1. Check your brake fluid reservoir in the engine bay and make sure it is up to the correct level.

2. Look at the left rear wheel area and see if you see any signs of a fluid leak. Be careful though, if there is brake fluid back there and you get it on the paint of the vehicle, it will take the paint off.

3. Have a helper get in the vehicle and operate the brakes while you or someone observes the left rear brake and see if you can see the brake engaging or if you see any signs of a fluid leak.

Power Steering Fluid Leak, boiling fluid.

Look at the steering rack on the side of the car that you think the leak is, look for the steering rack boot or gaiter, it looks like a black circular accordian type thing.
If this is bulging and leaking fluid the seal in the end of the rack is gone, this is one of the most common faults of leaking fluid and at the rate you are losing fluid, the leak is on the pressurised side of the system after the pump (the seal at the end of the rack)
