Question about 1996 Mercury Villager

Two codes p0400 and p0325

I have no problems that i can tell runs great but i get the p0400 and p0325 codes ive checked tps egr and if the knock sensor was bad you would think it would knock but it doesent ive gone over all hoses injecters i dont know what else it could be

Could be leak around throttlebody gasket or lose hose or cracked. take carb cleaner and spray around the throttle body to intake manifold and see if the engine variates in idle. if so you have a leak.

Codes P0325, P0330, P0300, P0308, P1404, P0058. I know. ..just went to get my oil change the mechanic told me he had found the engine light with those codes. It's a 2005 Dodge Durango V8-287 4.7L SOHC. I...


These codes are telling you that you are having cylinders misfiring..And the knock sensor is picking up detonation knocks..with all these codes your engine must be running really bad.. Start by checking your spark plugs.. spark plug wires, coils.. EGR system. If you allow this condition to continue it will ruin youir cats.. a very costly repair. Check to see which cylinder is misfiring.. One of the codes indicated it was #8 cylindler. run the engine and disconnect the spark plug.. if there is no change or very little change in how the engine is running.. try moving the wire to another plug and moving that plug wire to the #8.. If the Problem travels with the wire.. its the wire.. if #8 still has the problem.check the plug and coil... Keep looking until you find the ofending cylinders and repair them.. Check to make sure the hoses are hooked up to your EGR and it is functioning... post a comment here and let us know how you are doing.

I'm getting P0400 and P0235 on Renault Logan


P0400 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction
P0235 Turbocharger Supercharger Boost Sensor Circuit Malfunction

I would say the EGR Valve is faulty- stuck open. I think the second code ( P0235) is being generated due to the EGR problem.

Ok P0325 Knock sensor (Bank 1) There is a way to test the resistance, but I dont know the specific Ohms for your vehicle.
P0400 EGR Flow This means that there is a buildup of carbon and other things in all the passages that go to the EGR. Clean them out before looking at the knock sensor. Bad misfires can cause the knock sensor to go out of range. EricTheCarGuy has some excellent videos (youtube) explaining how to go about this.

What does that mean?

A knock sensor tells the engine computer when one or more of your engine's cylinders are "knocking", that is, exploding the air/fuel mixture in a way that delivers less power and can be damaging to the engine if prolonged. The computer uses this information to tune the engine so that it doesn't knock. If your knock sensor wasn't operating properly, so that it was always indicating a knock, the engine computer's response may have been to change the ignition timing on your engine. Knock sensors generally bolt into or thread into the engine block. This P0325 code may show up intermittently or the Service Engine light may be lit constantly. Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction
What does that mean?

The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve is vacuum controlled valve that regulates the amount of exhaust gases that re-enter the cylinders. The powertrain control module (PCM) determines how much based on engine load, temp, and other conditions. If the PCM detects that the amount of exhaust gases entering the cylinder were insufficient or non-existent, this code is set.

No symptoms will likely be noticed by the driver other than the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp). However, non visible symptoms will be increased combustion temperature and increased Nox emissions.
Causes

A code P0400 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • Plugged EGR passage which restricts the flow of exhaust gasses
  • Faulty EGR solenoid
  • Faulty EGR solenoid wiring/harness
  • Vacuum lines damaged/disconnected to the EGR valve solenoid or to the EGR valve
  • Faulty EGR valve
Possible Solutions

Since EGR valve designs are different, no one test will suffice:

  • Using a scan tool, operate the EGR valve with the engine running. If the engine stumbles, the problem was likely intermittent wiring problem or intermittent blockage problem
  • If engine doesn't stumble, operate the EGR valve manually, if possible. If engine doesn't stumble and die, the ports are likely plugged. Removal of valve and cleaning of all ports will be required
  • Checking of solenoid can only usually be done with a scan tool, because most solenoids operate with a duty cycle of voltage, rather than constant voltage
  • Check all vacuum lines, hoses, etc for any damage
  • Visually inspect the solenoid harness and the solenoid for damage
  • Replace EGR valve

I have a 2004 pilot, VTS4 and engine light came on. i have a p0325 knock sensor circ. bank A. just replace the sensor?? also i can seem to find any diagrams. any help appreciated!!!


It does sound like the sensor may be bad, but you also need to check the wiring.

I got a 1995 chevy blazer s10 with a 4.3 v6 engine wont start when it does start it is missing bad had it analized at auto zone came back a knock sensor, tps sensor, & egr valve what should i check...


In order I would go for the EGR valve, then the TPS. A malfunctioning EGR will keep the car from starting and make it run very rough if you do get it started. The car will run without the knock sensors so I would wait until it runs better before getting those. There are two knock sensors one for each bank of cylinders on the V6. Autozone should be able to tell you which sensor goes on which side.
