Question about 2004 Dodge Dakota

1 Answer

Need to replace bulb in back up light - do not know how to remove assembly.

We have to replace the bulb in the left tail light of our 2004 Dodge Dakota truck. The only way we can see to remove the assembly is there are 2 screws that fasten into the left lip of the bed when the tail gate is open. Do we loosen these and just slide the assembly out to the left??

Left rear tail light not working on 2001 dodge stratus

If that's the only light not working, the bulb probably needs to be replaced. To get the lamp housing out so you can change the bulb, open the trunk and pull back the liner on the left rear side - there are usually a couple of plastic fasteners that need to be removed to pull back the liner. You should now be able to see two or three fasteners (plastic or metal) that hold the lamp assembly to the body. Remove these and pull the lamp assembly out to the rear. Remove the bulb holders from the lamp assembly by twisting them a quarter turn counter clockwise, then remove and replace the non-functioning bulb. Reverse to reassemble.

How do I replace left rear turn signal on dodge intrepid?

Open trunk, pull carpet back (may have to undo some fasteners). The tail light assembly should be visible. Unscrew the plastic fasteners to the tail light. The whole tail light assembly should now be able to be removed from the outside of the car. You will see the individual bulb sockets where the wires lead to the bulbs. Twist to remove. Take the burned out bulb to the car parts store. Reverse these steps to reassemble.

I would like to know how to remove tail light assemble on 2004 Dodge Dakota. I don't see any way to get to it. Does it pop off and snap back in once you replace the bulb?

There should be 2 screws when you lover the tailgate. Remove them and the assembly should slide out with a little wiggling.

When I press the break only my passanger side tail light works. Is this a fuse problem?

Try replacing the passenger side tail light bulb.
Inside trunk, remove two black plastic nuts holding carpet liner in place on side where bulb is burnt out.
Pull back carpet, use a flat screwdriver to pop out the wiring. Remove three nuts using a small open-ended socket or pliers.
Pop out entire tail light assembly. Locate bulb to be replaced. Rotate 1/4 turn to remove from socket. Replace bulb and repeat in reverse order to reinstall.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck

Removing tail light

Drop the tailgate - there are two torx style bolts holding the lens assembly in place. Remove both, then with some gentle force, pull the lens assembly straight back(there are two self seating plastic bolts that hold the assembly into the truck frame, towards the cab).

Once undone, there is a strip of three bulbs on one wired base, and that base is screwed to the lens assembly (4 phillips screws). Unscrew those, and the lens assembly is free from the base. You can then remove the bulbs, insert new ones, and reverse the process. Good luck.
