Question about BMW X7 Series

1 Answer

Battery is dead on 1993 BMW 740i. Electric door locks don't operate to open doors and manual key access doesn't work either. Access to battery behind rear seat is not available nor is operation of hood latch to open hood to allow recharge of battery connections. Manual operation of door latch from inside car does not free the door either. What access to the battery is available for recharge from outside the car from underneath and how do I make any necessary connections

Exactly what I needed!! Based on the steps I had already taken, I knew what I needed to do but didn't know exactly how to do it. You provided me with alternatives to complete the operation.

The second approach, BMW Emergency "key position" was an approach that I believed had to be available but no one, including BMW dealships and generic locksmiths, would share.

I'm sure I'll be using you again,

    Thanks

If you are going to do it from under the car, disconnect the positive cable from the starter and connect the positive battery charger cable to the disconnected positive starter cable and the negative battery charger cable to the car frame or and suitable ground...allow it to charge 2-4 hours..after the charge, reconnect the starter cable and use your key to open the drivers side door...this will allow access to the rear seat where the battery is located

Another way is to connect a charger to the fog light harness and then use the key fob to unlock the doors

Here is some more useful information on how to use the "emergency unlock" with the key and other ways to charge the battery...go to this link:

My 2002 subarue foresters battery is dead, electric locks won't open, key won't work in lock. How do i manually pop the hood w/o access to the cabin

This can be a very difficult procedure and sometimes not possible on certain makes and models. It may be easier to gently pry the top of the door away from the vehicle and insert a small wedge to keep it ajar. Take apart a coat hanger and insert through door opening and with hook end grab door lock and open.

The battery is dead on my 2008 Ford Taurus X, the doors are locked and my keys won't unlock the door. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I've already tried the key less entry. That is...

I hate the way they have incorporated these new alarm systems so that you cant open the doors when the battery is dead, some cars will lock you inside unable to open door from inside. The electric door locks are what is keeping you from being able to unlock doors. Some people go to Auto Zone and rent the tool that can be slid into the door by way of the window opening, this doesn't always work. the best way to get in is to go under the car with a set of jumper cables and charge the battery from the large battery cable that is connected to the starter.. charge battery enough to access door locks P.s. it wont take much power to use key to unlock door after the battery has a small charge..

1999 porsche 996 replaced key fob battery disconnected battery now trunk releses are locked and cant access battery. How do you open frt trunk manually

Assuming the car battery is ok (if not, buy a male to male cigarette lighter at the auto store and connect to another car until charged enough to unlock the doors...but don't try to crank the ignition!). The trunks won't open if the battery went dead with the alarm set because arming the alarm physically locks the releases.

Sounds like the key code is switched off because you replaced the key fob battery. Try unlocking the car manual with the key in the door lock. Then switch the ignition on to reactive the keyless entry. If this does not work, you might also try pressing the fob unlock button with the key in the door lock until the dash led flashes.

2006 bmw 325i remote only unlocks driverside door. will not unlock all doors when you lock it from the inside. have to use key in remote to open door. also central button to unlock doors is inop

fuse 56 and 57 control central locking, the issue is caused by surges typically in the front door lock actuators, normally at a dealer they would replace fuse 56 and 57 with a 20a mini fuse and if still occuring repl the door lock(s) that dont work or typically both front, first replace fuse 56 and 57 with 20a fuses as were too small from factory and than operate ten to 15 times, if it doesnt work at first dont panic, let the car go to sleep which takes about 16 min and than try again this problem has nothing to do with the key fob or the lock unlock button inside, also the fuses are located behind the glove box just rere the access panel and they are found at lower left section

I have a 1994 740i, the battery is dead and I can not unlock the doors with the key, I can do so with the trunk, but not the doors. Your assistance will be very much appreciated.

Put the key in the driver's door and while lifting up, turn the key. You may need to jiggle the handle and key a little but it should open.
