Yes it does take 134a and the quantity should be on a white sticker under the hood somewhere near the front of the motor. Occasionally they put that information on the strut towers also under the hood.My estimate would be 2 lbs. if the system is completely empty. Get the can of freon with the gauge on it to eliminate the possibility of overfilling.

I need to know where I can go to get a manual diagram for a 1996 Cherokee jeep sport fuse box?

Like answer #1, when I bought my 1993 Jeep Cherokee, one of the first things I ended up doing was go to & join the
cherokeeforum.com, i.e. cherokee-forum-dot-com....

I've found that whenever I need advise, or answers to any questions with my vehicles, I look for the forum for that vehicle. 99.9% of the time the folks in the forums give you honest answers..... I even subscribe to a few YouTube Channels, like the one for my 93 Cherokee. That guy is not only smart when it comes to 1990s-2000s Jeep Cherokee's/XJs, he's always doing some sort of repair or modification to one of his Cherokee's or Grand Cherokee's..... Hope this helps all you Jeep XJ Folks out there....

Manual

Your Jeep may have been built using R12 freon. R134 was first used around 1994.
If it is R12 the fittings won't work on your R134 recharge kit. Otherwise, you connect the hose fitting to the fitting that is on the low side line. The high side fitting will be too big or too small. Sometimes the low side fitting is on the compressor, sometimes it is in one of the lines.

THE AIRCON OF MY GRAND CHEROKEE IS NOT VERY COLD. I ALREADY REPLACED THE COMPRESSOR WITH A BRAND NEW ONE.

have someone recheck the high side pressure and the low side pressure to make sure it is full of freon,
with a thermometer sticking in your dash vents and others closed your coldest temp will only be 42degrees,
thats all the colder R134 can get.

Where is the low pressure ac valave on my 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs manufactured in or before 1995 use R12 refrigerant. You mustretrofit these SUVs to accept R134 refrigerant using a retrofit kitavailable at your local auto parts store before you can recharge thesystem. In some areas, a license is required to retrofit an airconditioning system. If this is the case in your area, take your Jeepto a professional to retrofit the system.

Locate the Low Pressure Side connector port: You will find it on the driver's side of the engine.

Good luck!!! (rated this help)
