Question about 1999 Ford Explorer

Flashing O/D Off Has codes 733 & 741

I have a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT SOHC. When reaching the speed over around 40mph the O/D Off light flashes, we took it in and we were told that we had to replace the transmission. I asked for the codes and they are 733 and 741. What are these codes and do I really have to replace my whole tranny or are there just some parts that I can fix (for now)?

Disconnect the battery, Touch the red and black leads to each other and zero out the sensor register....see if the problem when away. If it did you have a sensor trip.... go buy beer and share with a freind. If it comes back you will have to seek out the source of the trip, Take to Auto Zone they can test the code and give you a source.

A light that looks like a crossed out D within two circles is flashing on my 1998 Ford Xplorer XLT 4.0L Auto. Please advise?

Lower right side of dash? It sounds like the O/D light is flashing, indicating a transmission issue. Take it to AutoZone and get the codes retrieved, so we can help you diag your concern. Craig

Location of Speed Sensor 1998 Ford Explorer XLT

polarcycle is right but there is a speed sensor on the drivers side top of the trans. toward the tail shaft or transfer case. there is as well a sensor inside the trans. itself that is mounted on the web. behind the overdrive band and drum.

OD off Light Flashing on my 1998 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0 V

The OD light is flashing to alert u to the fact that some kind of fault has occured in the transmission, the problem is in many cases a slipping condition, you need to have the trans control system tested for the trouble codes that are stored when this light flashes, this will let u know what the problem is and a direction to follow to repair it.

96 FORD EXPLORER XLT 4X4 LIGHT FLASHING

Does the 4x4 "actually" work because this is a signal that the system has a problem. Its like a check engine light that comes on or flashes when there is a problem with the engine or emission system.

My overdrive light is flashing indicating the overdrive is off

this could mean there is a problem with the transmission, but most times when OD light is flashing it is because the wiring to the OD switch is broken.
is the OD switch on the end of the gear shift lever ?
or does your vehicle have the shifter on console between seats ?

How do i replace the pcv valve on a 2000 explorer xlt v6 sohc?

On the passenger side of the intake manifold, coming off the bottom about the center of the engine front to back, you'll feel a hose that comes off a nipple. That hose makes a 90 degree bend and goes around to the rear of the motor. Where that hose meets the Y-connector from the other side of the intake you'll find the PCV valve. It's almost impossible to see it with the hood installed, and even tougher to reach it.
