Question about Dodge Neon

1 Answer

1995 Dodge neon, my oil light just started coming on, I recently had my head gasket replaced and all the bolts are tight, is there a way to check to see if it is just my light or more oil pump or anything else?

1995 dodge neon catalytic converter replacement guide

If the converter doesn't need to be "cut in" (Welded) then it is a simple job. What you will need is to purchase one from an exhaust centre along with 2 gaskets & there recomended sealant. You undo the bolts (4 in total) remove the old, clean gasket surfaces, glue on gaskets & refit.

I just replaced the head in my 99 neon and i'm blowing white smoke from the exhaust. What's the problem

You are burning coolant, the head gasket can be put on Wrong, If your looking at the engine the right rear corner is the only oil passage for the head, you will see a difference in that corner of the head gasket. If your sure that the gasket is on right you may have a warped or cracked head or improper torqued head, all head bolts MUST be replaced when you do a new gasket cause the bolts stretch when torqued. The spec is 25, 50 then 50 then 1/4 turn for the bolt torque.. Make sure u start from the center of the head.

2004 dodge neon and white smoke

You probably have a bad head gasket.
To verify this see if the coolant is milky or if there is oil in the coolant reservoir. If so you need a new head gasket . If not you have an oil leak into the combustion chamber.

Approx cost for head gasket w/head cut approx $1500 to$ 2000.

If it turns out to be an oil leak into combustion chamber I really can't project . Need to know whats leaking and why.
Good luck

My cruise control on my 1995 neon quit working, the car has 26000 mile's on it ..hardly broke in ! Any idea's ...Thanks!

your vehicle speed sensor may be dropping out at times..without this signal, your cruise will not work properly..it is located in the trans housing where right side axle shaft goes into transmission..unplug it..check for pushed out pins, corroded wiring connections..remove sensor..1 10mm headed bolt..might be tight coming out..check plastic gear on sensor..may be damaged..also check engine computer for speed sensor trouble code..let me know if you find anything abnormal

97 neon oil leak

Solution: Maybe.

Rear main seal is probably the problem.

My 1997 Dodge Neon has this same problem. My father-in-law (who used to be a mechanic) checked the car for me and found the rear main seal needs replacing.

I have a 1997 Dodge Neon. My check engine light has been on for a while and I have a small oil leak. Last night I was driving the car and the temperature gauge went all the way to high and the bell...

The 1995-1999 Neons are notorious for having faulty head gaskets. This sounds like what you're experiencing. There is coolant leaking internally somewhere, and burning in the engine.

By any chance, is the smoke coming from the back or side of the driver's side of the engine? This seems to be the trouble spot.

If you've been driving with a bad head gasket seal for a while, there's a chance you could have warped or even cracked the head. I would recommend taking it in because this is a pretty major repair... unless you feel like taking the engine apart yourself.
