Question about 2007 Pontiac G5 Gt Coupe

1 Answer

Check engine light stays on all the time(2006 pontiac g5 gt)

Had it to the dealer countless time with no fix. They said it could be the gas cap being loose. They changed the injectors under warranty but that didnt fix it. Had it there 6 times and had enough .Also the car idles between 1500-2000 rpms. Which it should rev under 1000 at idle.
Could it be the o2 sensor or throttle position sensor?
Any help would be greatly appreciated because the guys at murray gm are totally out to lunch.

Thanks!!

When engine is cold, it idles at 2000 rpms. After about 30 seconds it drops down to under 1000 rpms. After warmup it runs at 600 rpms. It just started doing this.

EVAP Hose that Vents gas odours to atmoshere when hot weather creates fumes / pressure Could Be Plugged ..MAYBE Early warning of Fuel Pump Failure so keep car under 1/2 tank an save alot of grief #@%^&*%$ IF this pump fails ..Fuel rail pressure ++ flow consistancy can be test at fuel rail port by gauge { autozone - O riellys } will also show weak injector when engine floored .

massive evap leak? oh my god i hate this..... first the new gas cap didnt fix your problem... the seal on them are@#$% . second, if your car is running when filling gas you get this message....third, make a rubber, cork,or leather seal to fit your gas cap or find a better fitting cap...doesnt have to be OEM.. hope this helps!

07 pontiac g5 gt wont start when put gas in it

You will have to pinpoint what the engine is missing...
- Spark
- Fuel
- Compression

All three of these are tested when the engine is being cranked over. There are two way of checking for fuel. Fuel pressure and fuel trigger. Both are very important and must be present for the engine to start. Fuel pressure is self explanatory. You just hook up the gage and see what the reading is. Fuel trigger is check with a noid light. The injector gets unplugged and the noid light gets plugged in to the injector clip. With the engine cranking over, this light must blink. This is the signal to the injectors from the computer. You can have all the fuel pressure in the world, but it wont matter if the injector is not pulsing gas into the cylinder like it should.

Compression tester, spark tester, fuel pressure gage and noid light are all accessible at your local auto store. All three tests play a very important part in diagnosing a no start condition. Be extremely careful when doing these tests.

Check engine light has come on my 2009 pontiac G5 and stays on. Checked gas cap and its fine??

You must get the error code read for the check engine light in order to get helped here. Bring your vehicle to a local autozone to have your vehicles computer scanned, its free or local shop (most charge for this). Post the codes on fixya for further assistance.

Service engine soon light stays on. The gas cap is very hard to take off and put on

The SES light will come on with a missing or defective gas cap. Try getting a new gas cap and installing to fix the problem.

Otherwise, have the SES light scanned to see what other problem may exist.

Hope this helps.

Engine check light remains on after start up. Engine seems to be running normally.

Could be something as simple as a loose gas cap, that set a code. Stop in to one of the bigger auto parts stores, and they will scan it for free, which should point you in the right direction. Write the code(s) down, and if fix isn't obvious, get back to us with the number, and we'll be glad to assist you further. Much faster, cheaper, and easier this way.

Have a 2007 Pontiac G5 and need to add power steering fluid.

its tricky. its behind the engine. If you pop the hood and you go to the left side, look behind the block and it chould be about half way down or so. You should see the cap for it. I think that was a horrible idea on pontiacs part. Happy motoring!

The onboard computer has detected a problem.

If still under warranty (emission related, up to 50K by government mandate), take to dealer. If not sure, take it to autozone or other auto parts store and have them hookup computer and printout the error code.

NOTE: If fuel cap is not on tight, it will set an error code. Can take several days to reset after correcting the gas cap.
