I have knocking on top of the motor we've put oil in it and nothing works what could it be

Motor oil in your radiator may be a sign that you have a blown head gasket or even worse a cracked head. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

How do I change the timing so I can use different grade of gas and not get the knocking?

NOT SURE WHY SOMEONE TOLD YOU THIS? BUT YOU HAVE A RANGE FOR YOUR TIMING HAVE TO CHECK SPECS BUT THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GASOLINE GRADE YOUR HEARING KNOCKING YOUR VALVES COULD BE GETTING SMUDGED AND GUNKED UP I RECOMMEND CHANGING OIL RUNNING A BOTTLE OF LUCAS OIL STABILIZER WITH OIL REPLACES ONE QUART ALSO LUCAS FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER 3OZ TO EVERY TEN GALLONS OF GAS YOU CAN DO THIS WITH 87 GRADE KEEP TIRES INFLATED PROPERLY FRONT END ALIGNMENT PROPER OIL THESE ARE ALL FUEL SAVING TECHNIQUES THAT WORK!

Got very bad nock in motor all fluids and gages are good. Engine light is on

Did changing the oil cause your light to go on? You didn't say if the noise started all at once or if it has gotten louder over time.

Typically a knock not related to predetonation ("pinging") will typically come from the connection at the crankshaft to the piston connecting rod. A slapping sound may occur if the connecting rod pin is sloppy or part of a piston skirt is damaged. I had a 98 Durango but can't remember if you have hydraulic lifters. A bad lifter can also emit a knock. If you have more of a clatter check the rocker arms. It's also possible a pushrod is bent. Use a mechanics stethescope or metal rod and try to isolate the noise source. The precise location of the knocking will improve you odds of solving the problem.

When I try to turn on Mm 2000 Dodge Durango there is a really loud knocking noise under the hood.. Do you know what could be the problem?

Hi :) Well it could be that you have blowen a timing chain and the pistons are hitting the valves or a connecting rod has broke and is banging agaist the inside of the block.

Hello, my wife overheated my 04 Durango 4.7 to the max until it shut down on her.now it's got a constant knocking sound but I can't tell what area of motor it's coming from.what could of broke.

Its very possible that one of the head gaskets are blown and leaking coolant into the Combustion chamber causing it to bend the rod or rods ! Also is there coolant in the oil ? One trick to manually find the area is to use a wood handle from a mop or broom and place on different point on the engine with your ear against the handle and note any sound differences ?

I have a 98 durango 4x4 5.2 after about 20 minutes it starts not wanting to shift up to 2nd and 3rd until i let off the gas and if i hit passing gear it just revs any suggustions

Try a can of tranX, this stuuf is great. It's a seal conditioner. will help with your problem. Get it at a parts strore. Put it in my dodge two years ago and hasn't slipped since. Also used it in many other makes and models. Easy $15.00 fix, Compared to $700.00 for a solenoid package repai.

P>S> it took about three days for my dodge, so give it some time. depends on your driving time

Plz which fuel can i use 95 octan or 98 octan for clk 320 2002

Do you have 95 or 98 octane where you live? The airport? I'm sure it will burn just fine, most race cars use it, at $14 a gallon. I would run any gas in there as long as it didn't ping or knock. The book calls for 91 octane, and I just read an article that we are wasting our money on it, because if the lesser octane gas doesn't ping or knock, use it! Hope this helps.

I have a 98 dodge 2500 5,9 gas engine the motor pings very bad timing is set new tune up and no engine code

Fuel quality and carbon build up are the biggest ping problems. Try and run most of the tank of fuel you have in it right now and fill it up with good high octain gas and get some sort of fuel treatment from you local parts store, that will eat away at the carbon. And drive it like you stole it, to try and blow it out.
