Question about 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Mirrors move when I unlock

I just bought a used 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. When I unlock it using the remote, the mirrors move down. How do I try resetting the options for the mirrors to my remote (#2)? The vehicle did not come with the owners manual.

Instructions
  1. Programming the First Transmitter
    • 1

Unlock all of the Jeepicon1.png Grand Cherokee's doors and open the driver's side door. Keeping the door open, lock it using the manual lock on the door itself.

    • 2

Put the manual key into the ignition and switch it to the "On" or "Run" position, whichever applicable, without starting the engine.

    • 3

Point the remote at the receiver (located by the little bulb on the caricon1.png ceiling) and hold down the "Lock" button for up to 5 seconds.

    • 4

When the driver's side door unlocks, you know the remote has been programmed correctly. If you are only programming one remote, jump to the next step. If not, manually re-lock the driver's side door and repeat steps 5 and 6 using each remote you would like to program and then continue.

    • 5

Turn the key to the "Off" position and turn the ignition on immediately. This must be done within 20 seconds of programming the last remote. You're finished!

My jeep grand has some funning little griks when i use my remote to open or close the doors my mirrors move and my compass works and my tempature gauge dosent come on only sometimes. ...

Well I can't answer all of your questions but the mirriors are some times linked to the remote and the user. My limited is programed to adjust to the settings of the person who is using the particular remote. the temp gauge will probably cost you about a 100 to have fixed. could be many things.
Hope this helped.

I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Ckerokee Limited, and I can't get any of the windows to roll up. The keyless remote will lock and unlock the doors, and the memory system for keyless # 1 & 2 settings work when...

same thing happened to me. I was told this is common in jeeps and 90% of the time this is the solutuion. There is a rubber housing inbetween the drivers side door hinge and fuse panel with wires in it. Unhook your battery first then roll the rubber back and there will be broken wires in there. Strip the wires and reconnect them with connectors and you will be good to go. If tthe wires are broke on the drivers side panel no other windows in the jeep will work. these wires also control the mirrors.

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. My drivers side front power seat does Not stay adjusted. Every time I turn the ignition on the seat moves backward and the back lays down.

The limited edition brings memory setting for mirrors and seats, it recognizes which key are you putting in the ignition and puts the saved setting accordingly to that driver's key. That is the reason your seat keeps moving. You need to reprogram the seat position for that key. Good luck

1996 grand cherokee has no power to drivers door controls.Locks mirrors windows

The master switch on the drivers door, the one that controls all of the windows, locks, and mirrors, is notorious for going bad. There are a few complaints in blogs out there. You can find one online, at eBay or junkyard. Or pay the big money at the dealer. I have fixed a handful of these. You can use a multimeter to measure voltage feeding into the switch at the harness. You should have about 12+ volts on the hot lead.

Grand Cherokee Interior lights stay on

I don't know about the remote hand held key problem but concerning the light staying on...Try... turning off the rear dome light by pushing up on the fixture... it may have been accidently activated when loading stuff in the rear.

The rear dome light has a option feature that allows you to turn on/off interior lighting while loading cargo at night.

Good luck
