That fuse should be in the fuse panal box in the engine compartment. its usually a 30 to 60 amp box fuse.

I cant find which fuse is the right one for the cigarette lighter on my 1998 chevy malibu

There is a fuse box under the hood. Most likely in front of engine and near battery. The fuse may be labeled "AUX PWR" or "CIGAR".

How do I change a 98 chevy malibu starter?

Locate the starter, it goes into the bellhousing of the transmission, that is where the engine and tranny meet. Easiest way is follow the wires coming from the positive battery post. It will be a big one. There are usually only two bolts holding it on. But first remove the wires going into it. Be careful with the main one coming from the battery, it is not fused and if grounded long enough will blow your battery up.

1998 Chevy Malibu Fuse panel diagram

There is a interior fuse block (or fuse panel) on both sides of this vehicle AND one in the engine compartment.

I believe the fuse you're looking for is in the panel on the RIGHT side of the vehicle, marked " F - INT. LPS"

To gain access to this panel, simply remove the fuse panel door on the end of the dash.

1998 chevy malibu fuse question

Sounds like you have a ground problem, i doubt its in the sending units as both gauges are acting strange work, seeing that electricity likes paths of least resistance one gauge could be grounding through another. Bad grounds wreak havoc on electrical systems.
