Car fails to restart after intial drive

95 mustang gt starts when cold in morning Then after errands when parked will not Restart Fuel pump failed last year replaced and ran fine Now underway on highway car has lost Power stranding us It restarts sometimes usually Now it is happening more frequently Could it be fuel pump again? Someone said it's bad coil? Bad relay? Help please! Stuck on this one! Thanks Cori

Sounds like TFI module I think 95 was the last year for it. Car runs great but when it gets hot dies out. TFI module.

The next time it fails to start you need to have the fuel pressure tested, the electric fuel pump might be sticking off due to wear.

You may have tripped the inertia switch. It's a small black box in the trunk with a red push-button; it is designed to pop if the sensor registers a certain g-force and kills power to the fuel pump to prevent gas from being pumped out after an accident. Look for that behind the trunk interior panels.

The way to test a fuel pump is to put a pressure gauge on it in the morning when it is cold when you have the problem. If the pressure is low then your fuel pump isn't working when it is energized.

If it is high, but it is still hard to start, look at a fuel injector being plugged up.

95 Lexus ES 300 difficulty accelerating after car has been parked


I had the same problem. I thought it might have been fuel lines clogged or fuel injectors. It ended up being a vacuum leak. My vacuum lines came unhooked and the main had a big crack in it. Repaired the crack and hooked the lines up and the problem went away.

Morning, I found your problem...its going to be your fuel pump. Allow me to explain. When you start your car in the morning the car starts just fine. As your driving the fuel pump will eventually get hot. Therefore the circuit cuts off when you turn off for a while then you jump back in to restart the vehicle and it doesn't. The reason is when the fuel pump gets hot it shuts off due to circuit wire inside the pump.
You can almost say like overheating. Therefore your pump is going out. Replaced 7-10 of them in my time as a mechanic. Do yourself a big favor. Don't get a used on or Autozone. Pep boys or Napa will do just fine. Goodluck.

Have you checked fuel pressure regulator.Getting fuel out of injectors? Did you replace old pump with a new good quality pump?
