There is no entry for key

  • Rafique Sheikh Aug 29, 2009

Yes the spring was missing. I tried finding it at a junkyard but for some odd reason all toyotas of the same model year were missing this part at the yard. The dealership quoted something over $15 for the part. I just took a spring from a '89 model year camry and put that on the fuel door on my car. It works like a champ, cost = $0 not counting the $2 entry fee to the junk yard.

More than likely the metal spring on the inside of the gas door is broken where the plastic attaches. Have someone hold the fuel door lever in the release position while you gently use a flat head screw drive to open the door. The part should cost you less than $10 at Toyota.

On a Toytota, there is a metal clip on the gans tank door. You can see it if you have two Toyota to compare the view. The spring controls the plastic pin to let the door open, but it is the metal clip that pops the door open. If the control switch inside the car is working, the switch releases the plastic pin, but without the spring, the gas tank door will not pop open. If someone release tjhe swtich inside the car, the other person can flip the door open with two old plastic credit card, it works for me. However, you still have to replace the metal clip.

Gas tank switch broke

Use a flat head screwdriver or flat blade and pry the fuel door open. The door is held shut by a spring clip towards the rear. You might be able to pry it open just using a key.

MY LATCH INSIDE MY HYUNDAI WON'T OPEN MY GAS TANK

My '03 has had the same problem. It's usually due to an obstruction on the fuel door itself. You'll need 2 people to fix it. The first person pulls the fuel door release lever and holds it in the up position. The second person taps on the fuel door until it pops open. If it doesn't open, then get a flat-head screw driver and *gently* pry it open.

If it still won't open, then maybe you have a broken fuel door release cable.

I cant get the interior fuel compartment lever to release. Any ideas how to open the door so i can get to the gas cap, without tearing the door off.

have someone use something to pry it open while you pull on the lever it looks like the spring is broken or rusted off. in case you have a broken cable you can remove cable from inside trunk.

My lever wont open my gas door....help i need gas.actually even the trunk lever wouldnt open the trunk.....finally the trunk lever i was able to pull up and then i couldnt ...

Hello. Here is what I need you to do:

Have someone pull the gas door release. With a credit card, or something like it, popsicle stick, nail file, etc, insert it at the side of the door that opens, not the hinged side. While your assistant is pulling the lever, see if you can manually pull the door open. If it opens, you have a broken fuel door spring. Toyota parts depts sell them for 3 dollars. The spring is there to "pop" the door open, when you pull the lever. If it is broken, and they break rather often, it needs replaced.

Gas tank door opener in Honda Odyssey 1997

If the lever itself is broken remove it it will have a cable attached to it. unhook the lever from the cable and pull the inner cord of the cable with plyer's or simular. If the lever is'nt broken it may be stressed so follow the same process. As to removing check arround the lever for screws if no screws the lever pivets on a pin gently tap out the pin with a small punch and hammer if you havent got a suitable punch then file or cut the point of a small nail.

How do i open gas tank on a 1997 mazda millenia

Either pull the lever located near the driver seat in the vehicle, or get a flathead screwdriver and gently pop it open if your pullstring on the lever is broken.

GAS TANK LEVER 2001 NISSAN ALTIMA

If you can't glue the handle back on, e.g. with urethane glue (gorilla glue, Elmers Nano, etc.; use as directed, cleaning lever and plastic cover with soap and water just before gluing) then you can just buy a part like Nissan 84640-9E000 (1998 Altima exact replacement; Nissan call it a Handle- Trunk & Gas Door Release.)

That will work fine as long as the gas filler door mechanism isn't messed up; go check for obstructions once you open the door, presumably by using a small locking pliers over a cloth or some rubber on the lever (or the cable wire.)

The trick is, you get to replace it with the door open; use a blade screwdriver to pry the running-board trim up, unscrew the bolt on the trim to the left and pry that off, undo some expander bolts holding the carpet across the running-board area, and wrangle the carpet away from the lever you want to replace.  Some 10mm wrench work gets the lever loose, and you tilt the loosened stuff forwards to be able to remove the cable.  Regrease the bolts and cable run as well as you can.  Thread the new handle through the carpet before you bolt it in; it's harder to set up and bolt, but you don't have to cut the carpet or remove the seat!
