THERE ARE 3 MAIN THINGS THAT CAUSE THIS PROBLEM. THE BODY CONTROL MODULE, THEFT DETERRENT MODULE, AND THE WIRING. YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE THE CODE(S) AND GO FROM THERE.

SORRY, THERE IS NO WAY OF BYPASSING THE SYSTEM. THE BCM CONTROLS THE FUEL SYSTEM SO THAT YOUR CAR CANT BE TAKEN BY A LOWLIFE.

First I would see if there is an alarm or theft fuse, if so pop it out, and also I would disconnect the battery for a few minutes, if that still doesn't take care of it I would find the theft wire and just disconnect it, but make sure you wrap the bare wires.

How to remove or bypass the factory installed anti theft vehicle immobilizer.

in the 1996 sunfire GM uses an anti theft lock system. It can be triggered by all sorts of things. In order to relinquish this you must have a key to turn the ignition. These are not coded just plain cut keys. Once you attain this you put the key in and turn the ignition to the ACC position and wait ten minutes (theft lock light will turn off), turn off and take key out. You MUST do this 3 times and then the theft lock will be disarmed.
