Question about 2003 BMW Z4
My BMW Z4 has an intermittent problem. It sometimes will not restart after I have driven it for about 20 miles and shut the engine off. The engine turns over with the starter but does not start. There are no warning lights or other glaring warning indicators. If I lift the trunk lid for about 20 minutes, it will start and run perfectly. This has happened twice. Outside temperature was around 70 deg F or lower. (I also lifted the hood and put the top down so I am not sure the problem is in the trunk). I have tried to duplicate the problem at home by letting it sit for hours in the sun thinking it may be a heat related problem, but to no avail. It always starts at home. The car has been to a reputable auto repair business 3 times now for the same symptoms. So far they have replaced the key recognition module and the fuel pump load resister. I am at my wits end to get this problem resolved. Any suggestions?
I had the same issue with my Ford. I think the only reason for the same is fuel pump.
Get it replace and that will resolve the issue, infact try Pressure cleaning of Fuel Pump first if not then get the fuel pump replaced.
