The heater on my 02 mondeo takes about 30 minutes to start working properly, if I put the blower on too soon the temperature gauge shoots down, any ideas?

It sounds like the thermostat is stuck open. The thermostat is closed until the coolant in the engine gets heated up. Once it get hot, the coolant is cycled to the radiator to be cooled by air passing thru it. The coolant that was in the radiator is cycled to the engine where it is heated - or more properly termed, is used to cool the engine to keep it from overheating and seizing. The heated coolant is used to provide heat for the cabin in cold months.

Heres a video showing the job on a 2001 Mondeo and should be pretty similar job.

I have a 04 Ford Expedition...the rear heater makes a thumping noise whether the fan is on or off, sometimes it is much louder than other times....Help! Sound is driving us mad!!

This sounds like a stripped gear in an air door actuator. simple to replace and costs about 40 dollars. It is located on the passenger side behind the large interior wheel well cover.

1998 ford expedition: engine ovr heat light comes on- soon after heater goes from hot air to cold. Pull over cycle key all lights go to normal soon after heater goes to working. replaced radiator- fan...

Have you tried replacing the overflow tank cap. These don't hold pressure as it should which will cause the temp to rise. EX: the cap rating is 15psi, and the cap has a defect which only allows the cap to hold 10-12psi. That water has to be pressurized by the cap for the water not to flow out. Also, does the temp gauge reach a high level or just the temp light comes on. This will give a better idea of the problem. If the gauge is normal but the light is on, sounds like a temperature switch is bad.

Can I replace the "diode ? " from my 1995 Ford Mondeo Resistor Pack if so what rating is it. all 3 resistpr coils are fine. part number on ASSY is 93bw18b647ae but cant indivdual part number or spec's of...

It's usually not too expensive to replace the whole assembly. Most parts stores will sell it. The part that you think is a diode, is actually a thermal circuit breaker. They blow open when leaves or a worn out blower motor cause low air flow and the resistor pack gets hot. If you want, you can put a solid jumper in its place but be aware you could cause a fire.

When I turn off my ignition, my heater fan will keep running

I just started experiencing the same problem. Yes, typically after rainy days, I can never get the interior lights to go out after the ignition key has been removed. The car acts as if there is a door open. Now, my latest problem is with the heater fan. Of course, putting the control in the "off" position will turn it off but you can turn it on and off with no ignition key installed. I'm also having problems with my heater core too so it's been a pain in the but!!

I believe this problem has also caused my battery to die which is why I'm on this site in the first place!! I can't get into the car with the keys and the dead battery won't allow me to unlock the car!! When it rains it pours!!!

1998 Ford Mondeo GLX, loud humming sound, front driver side.

Most likely it's a wheel bearing going out.., If you turn to the right, or the left when driving the noise will change pitch. Been there done that.....
