Check the coolant level in the radiator. A low coolant level will allow the engine to run hot and since there isn't enough coolant to go through the heater core the heater won't work properly. Be careful when removing the radiator cap, wait until the engine cools so you don't get burned.
It is possible that the air wasn't bled out of the system after the thermostat change. Assuming that this is a 4 cylinder, on the head at the thermostat housing is a pipe plug. You'll need a 5/16 hexhead socket or allen wrench to remove it. Once again do this when the engine is cold. Remove the pipe plug and radiator cap. When antifreeze starts coming out of the pipe plug hole, reinstall it. Top off the coolant and try it again. The pipe plug is usually pretty tight so a hex head socket and ratchet may be the only way to get enough leverage to turn it. I hope this helps.

The radiator has fluid and I just had the thermostat changed but still running hot. The fan blows cold air in the car even when temperature gauge is maxed out.
Yes, I was low on coolant but I still may have air in the system, heat still not blowing, just cold air. I will check it out this weekend. Thanks.
