MY RPM GAUGE DOES NOT GO PASS THE 3000

WHEN I TURN ON MY CAR IN THE MORNING TO WARM IT UP, I RAVV THE ENGINE AFTER A COUPLE MINUTES, AND I NOTICED THAT MY RPM GAUGE DOES NOT GO PAST 3. AS SOON AS IT HITS THE 3 IT DIES RIGHT THERE AND THER IS NO MORE POWER. I HAVE PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL, BUT IT DOESNT DO ANYTHING IT WOULD JUST NOT GO PAST THE 3 OR 3000 RPM. THE CAR RIDES FINE, NO PROBLEMS, BUT THIS IS A LITTLE ANNOYING. DOES ANYONE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM?

Rpm limiter sensor or the vehicle is in limp mode
have the fault codes read to find any faulty sensor , then use a scan tool to reset the ECM

need to check codes and see if it has oil in it. and go from here.
if the computer sences low oil pressure it sets a rev limiter to try and save the engine. code P1259 i think. 4 or 6 cyl?

I have a nissan diesel 4 cylinder td27 engine , what i the normal oil pressure gauge reading for this engine whilst running

2.9 to 3.9 bar at 3000 rpm is fairly general for the Nissan range including turbo diesel, though the pressure isn't listed for the td27 engine. I doubt it would be more or less than the others.
I notice one Nissan commercial vehicle engine where 3.0 bar at 2000 rpm is specified.

The oil pressure test should be carried out at normal operating temperature.

Believe it or not, it is normal for these engines to use about a quart every 2000 even when they are essentially new. Note that I said, "use", not "burn". The combination of higher compression and operating temperatures causes oil to pass through the engine. You might notice your tail pipes have a good coating on the inside. I managed to slow the process by converting to Mobil 1 0W40. I get much better performance and I only use a quart every 3500-4000.

Why did this happen all of a sudden, Overheating (maybe) and RPM Sensor Pointing down?

If the noise was coming from the cooling system, first try to replace the radiator or expansion bottle pressure cap. The RPM needle probably is unrelate to the cooling system problem.

Could be the VANOS Seals. You can buy them for 60.00 and it takes about 5 hours to do (but will save you a lot of money). Follow the steps at this site and you're good to go: http://www.beisansystems.com/

Good luck!

ALTERNATORS DEAD EVERY MORNING AND GOES ON 30

Sounds like a wiring problem. The alternator needs a small amount of power from the battery to get itself started up because it uses an electromagnet but once it starts to produce power it can power the magnet itself. some alternators (yours included) are known as "self-exciting" which means that it retains some residual magnetism and so once you get it spinning so fast (usually about 3000 engine RPM) it begins to produce the little bit of power needed to power the magnet and then turns on. if you peel back the covering of the wires connected to the alternator I bet you will find a broken or chaffed one. Also, If you rev the engine above 3000 RPM right after you start it your alternator will probably kick in.

the freon is probably low, when you are at a high rpm the compressor is pumping faster causing the pressure to drop and when it drops the low pressure switch reconizes this and shuts the compressor down to avoid damage. now the condensation is coming from coldness of the low pressure line.

2002 vw jetta tdi - problem with rpm gauge?

Hi, Did you notice the motor actually reving higher when the tachometer was reading a higher rpm.. If it was it could be your transmission slipping.. Set your cruise control and listen to your motor while the tachometer starts moving erratically.. Good Luck
