Radio does not turn off on 2004 Ford Explorer XLT

I recently purchased a pre-owned 2004 Ford Explorer XLT. I had a lcoal Ford dealer do an ABS diagnostic to see why the light won't turn off once it is activated, make a FOB and retrieve the code for the door's external numeric lock. I am not sure when the problem started, but immediately after the service visit the radio doesn't shut off at all. I spoke with the dealer and all the service manager said was that I need a new radio. I need to know is there a simple solution to this besides getting a new radio? Is the dealer responsible? What should be my next step to have silence in my car besides just turning the volume completely down?

this is not just a replace thing, this has to do with a sensor not telling the radio to turn off. some radio's were designed not to turn off till the door is opened. if you open the door does it shut off?

According to the manual pg 10. http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/catalog/owner_guides/04expog3e.pdf
Anti-lock brake system: If the ABS light stays illuminated or
continues to flash, a malfunction has been detected, have the system
serviced immediately. Normal braking is still functional unless the brake warning light also is illuminated.

Radio turns on and off automatically and changes from tuner to CD searching for a disc every two/three minutes on its own! What's up with that? 1999 Ford Explorer - just purchased!

Sounds like a faulty radio or radio power connection, as you've just bought it, I'd go back to the dealer and ask him to check it out, after all, it should have some kind of warranty.

The check engine light will represent fault codes that the computer is sensing. Have a mechanic, or go to your local auto parts superstore and have them scan for the fault codes. This will at least give you an idea about some of your problems.

That year Explorer was notorius for rear ABS sensors going bad. If your ABS light is on as well this may be your problem. Also they were notorious for 4WD modules going bad. This problem is more expensive. I would advise you to have it checked on a computer to see what codes you have.

Changing plugs on 2004 xlt explorer

sometimes when your changing the plugs you have to use extensions, swivels in either 3/8 or 1/4 with an adaptor to use the 3/8 socket. or you can purchase a special spark plug socket that swivels on its own. and then there are those vehicles that you have to tilt the motor to get the back spark plugs out and in.
