What do you mean by "Kick" started? Get the Glow (heater) plugs checked as badly worn or very old ones can cause a no start issue.

4 things you need to start an engine...proper air/fuel mixture, compression of that air/fuel mixture, spark at the right time and enough RPM to sustain it.

Battery off for 10 min.

possible selector problem when you push forward for 1st your are actually pushing into 3rd, try starting car from 2nd gear and see if it stalls as that would mean you are hitting 4th. usually a car can pull off in second gear ok. if this is the case go to a dealer to sort this out. as your gear selector is not aligning up correctly. if this is not the case the engine could be losing compression but that seems less likely.

adjustment at handle mechanism, 10mm bolt or nut on cable

if it is hydraulically operated then check the oil level as there is air in the system. if it is motor driven then check for dry joints and slides and loose connections in the wiring

Not an expert on non-us Nissans, but there should be a clutch switch to prevent you from cranking the engine in gear.
I would check the circuit with that switch.

CHECK FLUIDE LEVEAL, COULD HAVE BAD BEARINGS.
