I have 1998 jetta 2.0 check engine light came on , needs oxygen sensor, where is this located , also valve cover gasket needs replacing any tips on that also, thank you

Depending on which O2 sensor it is, the first one in the exhaust manifold right off the engine, or in the exhaust pipe right before the catalytic converter. The second one is almost always directly behind the catalytic converter.

1998 vw jetta turns over but won't start check engine light on

The coil pack on these are bad about being defective. You need to check to see if you have power coming from your coil pack. If you do not try changing it out, this produces 60k +/- volts that goes through your ignition wires, to your spark plugs and ignites the gas on combustion with the piston. If it's not giving off a spark, thenyou're not getting power to fire off the engine.

Check engine light on a 1998 Jetta shows lien fuel intermittenant

I had this problem. It was caused by cracked small vacuum lines on the engine. Replace the cloth covered ones (about 1/4" or 6MM). Then clear the OBD codes.

I did a oil change and spark plugs on my 2002

that happens sometimes dont worry. As long as the light isnt blinking it is fine. Just drive it for a few days. If it doesnt clear itself, take it to a shop and have then clear it for free or cheap. You could also disconnect your battery for 15 minutes or so and it will reset the computer and whipe the check engine light off. Sometimes if you have a bad plug or all cyclinders arent firing it causes the check engine light to come on. now that everything is replaced just do what I said above.

Check engine light 1998 VW Jetta

The exact location depends on the type of motor you have. My guess it's behind the plastic cigarette-lighter cover. But it could also be behind any other unused button-placeholders in the center-console or even on the driver-side, near the hood-latch.
