2006 Nissan Murano fuel tank drain without removing the tank

If you have water in the tank you will also have corrosion or rust.
Drop the tank and dispose of the contents in an approved mannor; NOT down a drain!! Check for any rust damage and if not too severe reuse the tank.
Clear the 'wet fuel' from the system by disconnecting all of the feed pipes and hope the pump has not been damaged by lack of lubrication from the water.
Remove the injector feed pipes and allow to drain.
Reassemble all but the injector feeds to allow for bleeding the system, refil with fuel, cycle the ignition key to fill the system with fuel and when fuel sprays from the injector feed, reconnect the injector and attempt to start the engine.
Good luck.

Have water in fuel Suzuki xl7 how do I drain the tank

no year, huh? some years have a check valve , there,....
this forum is for usa cars, is car USA car?
the tanks just dont like siphoning. (check valve)
the FSM covers this , in the fuel section under bad pump.
1998 to 2006, ill guess, 06

i have the FSM and does not cover. bad fuel, no drain plug.

it shows how to get fuel lower, in filler neck
the tank has check valve at it its metal neck.
so inserting a hose in filler, will hit this check valve.
and all you get out , is 1/2 fuel.
id use the tank out procedure.
then empty all fuel, after step 5.
quote:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Relieve fuel pressure in fuel feed line.
  3. Due to absence of fuel tank drain plug, drain fuel tank by pumping fuel out through fuel tank filler.
  4. Use hand operated pump device to drain fuel tank.
  5. Remove fuel tank.

tip tank to drain the remainder. out

here is one more way. (IDEA!)
do 1-4
then tip car to left. Jacks then stands at frame.
then remove the filler hose on tank
remove that pesky check valve. from neck last.

and pump out the rest.

There is a loud swooshing sound, we think from water that got in. Is there a plug to drain it somewhere?

I had a similar swooshing sound under the vehicle on a '90 4 runner. Turned out to be water trapped in the running boards. Removed rubber plugs, water drained out, swooshing was gone.

What is the best way to drain my fuel tank on a 1967 karmann ghia see i can replace the fuel tank tube filter

I drained mine by unbolting the entire tank (only 4 bolts on top) taking it out and inverting it for drainage.
BUT, here are two shortcuts that I realized later:
a ) You can get get under the front hood beneath the car (not easy to reach) and unhook the main fuel line from tank to engine.
b) The easiest way is just unhook the fuel supply line from tank to the carb and drain it slowly and best if parked at inclined level for better drainage down the hill. Collect Fuel in a fuel container.

90 yj only 70k on it sat for 2 years. 4.2 carb, ran one day now hard start, runs for 15 min. then dies. cant restart unless kept in start position. not ign. switch, fuel pump, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, or...

Check the fuel for a presence of water. I'm sure there was a recall notice on the gasket on top of the fuel tank where the sending unit mounts. My YJ sat for a year and had water in the tank from this leaking. Drain and drop the tank, replace the gasket, and reinstall.

Replace fuel pumpand moddual on a 2001 jeep wrangler sport 4.0l in side tank assembly

Fuel Pump Removal & Installation To Remove:
WARNING
The fuel system is under constant pressure, even when the engine is off. This pressure must be released before servicing the fuel pump module.
  1. Drain fuel tank and remove the tank.
  2. Thoroughly wash and clean area around pump module to prevent contaminants from entering tank.
  3. The plastic fuel pump module locknut is threaded onto fuel tank. Install special tool #6856 to fuel pump module locknut and remove locknut. The fuel pump module will spring up when locknut is removed.
  4. Remove the module from fuel tank.
To Install:
CAUTION
Whenever the fuel pump module is serviced, the module gasket must be replaced.
  1. Thoroughly clean locknut threads and mating fuel tank threads. Use a solution of soap and water. Do not use carburetor cleaner to clean threads.
  2. Using new gasket, position fuel pump module into opening in fuel tank.
  3. Apply clean water to locknut threads.
  4. Position locknut over top of fuel pump module.
  5. Rotate module until arrow is pointed toward front of vehicle (12 o'clock position). This step must be done to prevent float/float rod assembly from contacting sides of fuel tank.
  6. Install special tool #6856 to the locknut.
  7. Tighten the locknut to 55 ft-lb (74 Nm).
  8. Rotate fuel filter/fuel pressure regulator until its fitting is pointed to 10 o'clock position.
  9. Install the fuel tank.

    REMOVAL
    1. Release fuel system pressure.
    2. From inside trunk, disconnect fuel pump module wiring jumper from main body harness.
      • The 4 pin connector is located under the trunk mat on the left side of trunk near the base of the shock tower.
