Question about Nissan Hardbody

1 Answer

Faulty Petrol Gauge

Nissan sani'94 3lt i 4x4 petrol gauge does not give correct reading. Shows empty when under 3/4 full. Gauge goes up when going uphill and stays wherever it stopped while driving level road, and will drop to emty again after driving a while. If you stand still and pull away quickly it will also go up, but drop again - even with half a tank.

Hi there,
It could be 2 things:
1. the fule sender unit is faulty
2. one of the baffles inside the tank has come loose and is interfering with the float.
Either case you'll have to pull the float out to have a look. If you are doing it yourself, make sure youtake great care as you'll be dealing with fuel and this is a high risk work.
cheers.

Problem with my petrol float

Yes it sounds like you have found your own problem the float in your petrol tank is faulty and needs to be checked out. Check the wiring to the gauge is ok before doing anything at the end where the wires connect to it.

Your problem is the fuel gauge sending unit. It needs to be replaced. Another benefit of owning the durable festiva is the access panel under the back seat. You don't have to drop the tank to fix this problem.

Faulty petrol gauge

I had same problem with petrol gauge bouncing around all over the place, full tank, half a tank and nearly empty in the space of 10 miles.

I knew that if I filled the tank I would get approx 200 miles for half a tank so I did that for a while and just kept topping up. Audi testing it and the fuel sensors in the tank had to be replaced. I'm afraid its the only permanent solution!
