You have to remove the interior door panel its held in place my either palstic rivets or screws or both. you will mostlikely need a philips screwdriver, a ratchet set, some wrenches, and patience. the plastic rivets break easily too. if the window is up its gonna be a little tough to remove the panel completely. good luck

i had the same problem back when i had my nissan maxima. i was hoping
it was just the switch but, the wires in the window lifter in mine got
all mangled up. i was able t to get it to work for maybe a day when i
got it unmangled, if yours wire even has the littlest kink your gonna
end up replacing the lifter in the end. even if you get it fixed for
little while.if yours is and its not the motor itself. yoru lucky because thats the cheaper of the two. If the motor is the problem you might be better of buying the whole set as one piece. that way you dont have to deal with more hassle in trying to separate the motor from the lifter. you prtty much need a vice to get them bolts/screws off to separate them.
    good luck

Power windows wont roll up or down on 2006 Cadlliac cts

With the electronic's involved ,your best bet would be to take to a qualified repair shop . The door 's have electronic control module inside that control door lock's an window operation . Hooking up a professional or factory scan tool an viewing input data an checking DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's would be the first step any professional technician would do . You probably have no idea what these are ? Messing with these systems can render your vehicle unuseable if you do not know what you are messing with .

Power Windows System Components
The following components are used to control the power windows:
• Driver door module (DDM)
• Passenger front door module (PDM)
• LH rear door module (LRDM)
• RH rear door module (RRDM)
• Driver door switch assembly (DDSA)
• RH front power window switch
• LH rear power window switch
• RH rear power window switch
• LH front power window motor
• RH front power window motor
• LH rear power window motor
• RH rear power window motor
• Class 2 serial data link
• DR MOD PWR C/B 30 Amp circuit breaker
• DRIVER DR MOD 10 Amp fuse -- DDSA and DDM logic, DDM internal driver operation.
• PSGR DR MOD 10 Amp fuse -- PDM logic and internal driver operation.
• REAR DR MOD 15 Amp fuse -- LRDM and RRDM logic and internal driver operation.
Power Windows Operation
The vehicle is equipped with power windows controlled by the door modules. Each passenger door window can be operated, either from a power window switch built into the driver door switch assembly (DDSA) , or, from a power window switch mounted locally on its associated door. The driver door window can be operated only from the driver door power window switch built into the DDSA.
When the driver door module (DDM) receives a driver door window switch request from the DDSA, the DDM examines the request and inspects to see if it has received any messages from any of the other vehicle modules prohibiting the movement. If no prohibitive messages have been received, the DDM then applies power and ground to the driver door window motor to move the window as requested.
When a passenger door module, passenger front door module (PDM), LH rear door module (LRDM), or RH rear door module (RRDM), receives a window switch request from, either the DDSA or the window switch mounted locally to its door, the passenger door module examines the request and inspects to see if it has received any messages from any of the other vehicle modules prohibiting the movement. If no prohibitive messages have been received, the passenger door module then applies power and ground to its associated window motor to move the window as requested.

So do yourself a favor an take it to a qualified repair shop.

If the concern remains after the inspection, connect the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester, 007-00500 or equivalent, to the data link connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel to perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test. If the NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for the driver door module, go to Pinpoint Test A . If the NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for lighting control module, go to Pinpoint Test B . If the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test is passed for the driver door module and lighting control module, retrieve continuous DTCs and execute self test diagnostics for the driver door module and lighting control module to retrieve current DTCs.
  1. If self test is passed and no DTCs are retrieved, go to Symptom Chart to continue diagnosis.
  1. If DTCs are retrieved for the driver door module, go to the Driver Door Module (DDM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnosis. If DTCs are retrieved for the lighting control module, go to the Lighting Control Module (LCM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnostics.
  1. If the driver door module cannot be accessed by the NGS tester, go to Pinpoint Test A . If the lighting control module cannot be accessed by the NGS, go to Pinpoint Test B .

I have a 1999 subaru legecy the driver side window will not go up. The control will work with all others

Start by removing the door panel then the switch.
The video below will show you how to remove the door panel and the switch.
The master switches on this generation of Legacy have been know to wear with age.
First inspect the mechanical movement of the window regulator behind the plastic water shield. This style of regulator uses a gear driven motor with scissor arms to lift the glass. Look for any damage to the gear or a possible jam. You might need small mirror and a flashlight to fully inspect the parts inside the door. The easiest electrical test is to jump the motor with a 12V power source and see if it runs. That should identify a faulty switch or motor.
If you need to replace the motor and or the regulator its a little more involved. I will gladly post that in another answer if necessary.
Lastly try the link below to locate a replacement switch if it is the source of the problem.

The drivers door power window has stopped working. Is there a fuse somewhere we could check (couldn't find one). Or b/c only the one doesn't work, does that mean something different?

{: ) The driver door switch is also the master switch for all 4 windows. If only the driver window is not working, but the other 3 can be controlled by the master switch, then you need to focus only on the driver window circuit itself. If a scan tool is not available, you can diagnose it in a conventional manner. You will need to remove the driver door trim panel so you can test for voltages on the window motor which only have two wires. The driver window motor receives its power directly from the driver door switch which is protected by a circuit breaker. So there's no small fuse issue here, and you really can't one. The circuit breaker is very unlikely the cause.
If there is voltage present on the motor terminals as you move the button up or down, it is possible that the motor got stuck ( if not busted), or a cable is loose, or a rail that is binding.

Winow goes down won't go back up. swith is

There is no type of sensor in that system, however the problem could be a broken wire inside of the weather boot that runs between the door and the body of the vehicle. (The broken wire(s) will most likely be inside of the driver side door weather boot, but it could also be inside of the weather boot on the door that has the window problem)

If the window does go part of the way back up then most likely the window regulator assembly or the drive gear between the regulator assembly and the power window motor is damaged, and the door panel will have to be removed to inspect for the actual problem.

Here is a wiring diagram of a typical power window circuit for that year and vehicle to help assist you.

The drivers side window stoped working on my 2004 silverado the passenger side works fine

Try the fuse. The switch may be faulty so check by removing the inner door panel and connecting a 12v battery via two wires to the motor that winds the window up and down. If it goes up and down it's probably the switch which may just need a clean on the terminals.

Power window

if you can hear the motor humming or running chances are that your window is off track an jammed or the motor s just humming an has no power to bring the window up, driver side window is the first one to go out because it gets more use of than all the other windows. the ony better way to find out is to remove the door panel an make sure you use the right tool to remove the plastics studs , because you don't want to bust the plastic studs behind the door panel.

Sounds like the ball link for the window regulator broke. You will need to remove the door panel for a closer inspection. Most auto parts stores have the replacment parts
