The wheel cover has a key or key lock to lock the wheels.

The wheel cover on a 1987 oldsmobile ciera has a key to lock the wheel cover, so therefore I need a key to get the wheel cover off to change the tire.

Not that you haven't checked, but most of them stored in the glove box or the trunk where the spare is kept.

Anyway, if you are looking for a key, they come in various colors, but you must specify color needed [red, green, yellow, silver, black]. Pop the emblem in the center of the hubcap and see if there is a colored circle or if the bolt head has a color dot on it. Once you find the color you need, they are available online or local for ~ 5-10 bucks. Check your parts stores, hubcap/wheel stores, tire shops for help finding or using one.

They should be in the left hand side of the glove box behind a plastic cover, if not try under the steering wheel on the left side of the break pedal.

How do we replace the ignition lock on a 1990 ciera when the tumblers are damaged? can't turn it to remove normally?

Make sure the key itself is not worn.If it is good then you need a steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel and to get to the ignition cylinder. You also need a lock plate compressor tool to remove the lock ring on the lock plate. The turn signal switch has to be pulled out of the way to get to the bolt that holds the cylinder in the column.Once the cylinder is out you can have it repaired at a dealership. They have the tools for repairing ignition cylinders and you don`t have to get new keys.As long as it is not to worn out.Hope this helps.Good luck.

1994 cutlass ciera ignition switch. how do i get to it to get it out?

Drop the steering wheel down and you can access the switch. Just remove the dash cover to access the bolts holding the steering wheel in place. Once you remove those 2 bolts the steering wheel will fall toward the seat.

How can I change the ingnition key cylinder on a 96 olds ciera?

You have to pull the steering wheel off, (with a steering wheel puller/installer) loosen the signal light control, and remove the lock screw that hold the ignition tumbler in. It is probably a torx head screw, and it will have a long unthreaded part below the threads .

Ignition switch replacement

You will need to remove the steering wheel, if you have an airbag disarm it, this is very important, disconnect the battery and unplug the airbag diagnostic monitor, then remove the large nut retaining the wheel to the steering shaft, you will need a steering wheel puller to get the wheel off, very cheap tool avail from most parts stores, after the wheel is off remove the turn signal switch and move it to the left, under that switch you will see the pin that retains the lock cylinder, it will be a cross point screw, remove it, with the key turned to on remove the lock cylinder.
