1995 honda Accord, starts but dies as soon as I let go of the Key. IF I continue holding the key turned, then it'll stay on, otherwise it dies.

Same problem for my 1995 Accord, the car won't stay on unless i keep the key ignited. I wonder if it's a fuel problem rather than ignition. I'm thinking either fuel pump or fuel filter, any suggestions?

yes must keep key in start position for engine to stay running. Also the D1 indicator light is flashing and the brake light warning is staying on. Is the transmission involved since there is a link with transmission and engine start up? Is it primarily electrical or mechanical??

I have had this problem on two separate honda accords. Can you keep the engine running if you turn the key to start and then let the key come back just a little? I have had two faulty switches. I could keep the engine running but I had to hold the key between run and start position.

i`d say your battery is already dead(not able to hold charge) the car requires the continuous flow of power from the altinator. if the the power dies then your altinator is not supplying it properly. get it checked and replaced if nesesary.

You turn the key and it wants to start but it doesnt Could it be the coil? 1995 honda oddessy

It sounds like a problem i just had. Try this...turn the key as if you are starting it...but as soon as it starts turning over, slightly turn the key as if you were going to turn the car off (just slightly). It is stays running (while holding the key) there is an ingnition switch just under the steering wheel by the brake pedal that needs replacing. It cost me $60.

94 Honda accord 4 cylinder just dies while drivinng but starts

Check battery terminal for corrosion and make sure that they are tightly secured to battery. If there is corrosion use baking soda and water and a brush to clean off corrosion then secure terminal that should solve your problem

My car wont stay running

Does the engine die as soon as you release the key, or does it run for a couple of seconds after you release the key and then die? If it dies as soon as you release the key, try holding the key for a few seconds and see if it will stay running as long as you are holding the key (the starter will make a grinding sound while holding the key but won't hurt anything). If it stays running while you hold the key then dies when you release it, that indicates that the ignition switch is bad.
