'90 Acura Integra Alternator problem

Hi i'm helping my buddy fix his g/f's 90 acura integra and i can't seem to figure out how to get the alternator out. There's a small gap under the oil-filter, above the oil-pan, but it seems the axel is in the way. I tried taking the axel out of the car but the bolt that holds the axel in-place wont even budge. I made sure that the lock was open that would allow the nut to spin freely. I'm thinking that it's completly rusted on there, but is there any other way, apart from taking the F.I's out or the Brake-fluid housing out?

I've searched other websites and people promoted the idea of taking the alternator apart inside the body and pulling it out piece by piece, but I need to replace it and would rather not take a brand new alternator apart and put it in piece by piece.

If anyone has any answers, please help.

Thanks in advance.

Alright nevermind. I figured it out. There's a Bracket on the axel under the car that has three bolts that you need to remove. The bracket pivots down ward and you can just pry the chassis a little and the alternator will fall out.

Thanks men, I thought i had to take the brake cylinder out in order to access the alternator. Taking the bracket out seems to be the better solution

Sounds like you need to test voltage coming out of the alternator. Look for 12-14.1 volts using a multi meter. If that is ok then you have an ecu problem

How do you change the alternator on a 1991 acura integra

From my own experience, you have to remove the driver's side drive axle just to have enough clearance to remove the alternator. Then after you do that, remove the lower bracket for the alternator. THEN you can unbolt the upper bolt and take the offending beast out. Installation is the reverse of above. Have fun, could take anywhere from 4 hours to a whole day.

the battery wont stay charged? if youre putting in a fully charged battery and your car runs, but then the battery slowly dies, the problem will be your alternator. the alternator is what maintains a car batteries charge. try replacing the alternator. hope this helps.
