Oil pumps rarely go bad. 3 things cause oil pressure lose. Sludge from never changing the oil. oil sending unit is bad. Or the main and rod bearings are shot.

What are the sighs of a bad head gasket

there are a few ways that a head gasket can go bad.
1. it can blow between cylinders, which causes rough running.
2. it can blow between water and oil passages, which will either get you engine oil into your radiator or antifreeze into your engine oil. you will be able to see these as light brown froth on the dipstick, or when you open your radiator you will see the froth there too.
3. it can blow from the cylinder to the exterior which will cause rough running again and loud repetative hiss when the engine is running.
4 it could blow from a coolant or oil passage to the exterior, which will cause a coolant or oil leak where the block meets the head.

hope this helps ~ Zach

If you had a head gasket leak then there would be higher oil pressure but I think you would notice other signs of problems. Air and oil are typically sucked into the carburetor or air intake from the top of the valve cover. This is the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Valve. You could try changing this valve. They are cheap and it is pretty easy to do yourself. In Honda's they can have problems leaking oil from this point and if yours is clogged for some reason, that may help (not sure).

As far as blowing a spark plug out, that is a pretty big problem. Immense pressure has to happen for the threads to fail, unless the spark plug wasn't screwed in all the way. I would say there is a mechanical problem in your engine somewhere. Either timing is off slightly or a valve isn't working correctly, or there is something in the cylinder that hit against the spark plug.

How did they repair the spark plug problem?

Hi! As a first course of action please have an oil change. The oil can be burnt which can cause the engine to shake during cold start ups. Experienced this myself and an oil change was a helpful idea. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

It was running fine until i changed the oil,

MAY HAVE DISLODGED SOMETHING WHEN YOU CHANGED THE AIR FILTER??? COULD BE WRONG VICOSITY OF OIL, WHAT I MEAN IS IF YOU USED A REALLY THICK OIL SUCH AS 20-50 THEN THAT WILL ALSO CAUSE ISSUE. DID YOU HAVE TO DISCONNECT ANYTHING TO GET AIR FILTER OUT THAT MAYBE YOU DID NOT RECONNECT? YOU MIGHT PULL AIR INTAKE BOX OFF AND CLEAN REALLY WELL. CHECK THE T.B.I UNIT TO MAKE SURE THE INJECTOR WIRES ARE BOTH STILL HOOKED UP AND NOT GROUNDING OUT, GM AND CHRYSLER WERE BAD FOR THIS HAPPENING IN THE LATE 80'S. THE WIRES GO BRITTLE FROM THE FUEL AND SNAP OR CONDUIT FREYS. CLEAN OUT WITH A GOOD AIR INTAKE CLEANER THEN TRY AGAIN. LET ME KNOW THE OUTCOME.
