At the opposite end of the wire where it connects to the sparkplug on a 4 cyl and V6. A 1993 V6 has a coil pack and is not called a distributor. Should be three delco coils.

The distributor drive gear probably is striped out. not too bad if it is that. The only other thing it can be is the cam is broken or striped. Much more likely the distributor gear. You can remove it and get a new dist. or a used one. bring the number one cylinder up to top dead center and line up the rotor with the distributor cap #1.
Not too tough to do. hope this helps

Are you sure you have the plug wires on the right location on the distributor cap? You'll need to have a diagram to check by. If you're off 1 placement to the right or left it won't start.

The rotors for most cars have a guide groove or have a guide inside the rotor. If they don't they will rotate on the shaft and you would lose timing. Check your rotor and see if the guide is broken off. If this is the problem you need to buy a new rotor.
